per Capfriendly, Yelesin got max rookie base salary and signing bonuses.

Also got $425k schedule A bonuses per season

Whoa. He's definitely coming to play on the big team. Looks like there was a real bidding war for the guy.

Also per CapFriendly no European Assignment Clause they are aware of. So AHL is a possibility for him.

A lot of work needs to be done on Stockton's blue line. Lerby and Yelesin will likely draw top minutes.

The only other Stockton defenceman currently under contract is Andrew Neilsen.
Actually they said Lerby is going back to Sweden next year. No AHL for him.

Yes, that's true. I forgot to edit my oversight.

The organization is going to have to recruit a bunch more D for Stockton. Perhaps Valiev and/or Ollas-Mattsson return.

I think Valiev is a given to return. We'll see about AOM.

Matteson played top minutes and was thier best overall Defensive player.

Guy is almost a lock for a contract, going to be a key factor to Stockton's success.

OAM took a giant step last year.

Yes but he’s not actually Flames property
He may seek opportunities elsewhere

I'm not sure why Ollas Mattson isn't being looked at as a legit option for the Flames.

He sure looks like an NHL-ready player to me.

Not sure he is 100% ready yet but he is fairly close. Just needs to keep getting stronger and faster.

Another season or two and he could fit on a bottom pair. Will never be more than that though.

That Yakupov "scrum" is great to watch.

A few secs of facewashing before he decided it was time to feed Yak some knuckles.

And the stick and glove to the ground were very much
"that's it...."
*stick to the ice*
"...you're learning a lesson today"
*glove to the ice*

+1 Yelesin

That's such a difficult save though... It bounces like three feet in front of him, with a little pepper in it. Whenever the goalie ends the play facing the corner boards, you know something extraordinary has occurred.

Careful counting on the loyalties of native-born Lithuanians who spend their entire lives in the service of the USSR...

Ready for an NHL deal at least, the only question is if he wants to see if there's opportunity elsewhere.

The Hockey News has an article "Five NHL imports who could make an impact in 2019-20" at their site today.

Yelesin is 1 of the 5.

Quote:
Alexander Yelesin, D, 23 (Calgary)
An injury to Juuso Valimaki means the Flames will need depth to fill his depth spot on the blueline. Enter Yelesin, who, after talking to multiple teams, chose the Albertan squad this summer in hopes of immediately cracking the roster. Calgary does have solid depth on the blueline and Oliver Kylington and Brandon Davidson will do everything to try and limit his opportunities, but Yelesin has a good shot at some solid playing time this year. Just 23, he earned a spot on Russia’s initial World Championship roster for the first time in his career after solid play in Euro Hockey Tour action this season. Yelesin brings a good mix of physicality and defensive awareness and isn’t likely to be caught making dumb decisions with the puck. Oh, almost forgot: Yelesin recorded a 102 miles-per-hour slapshot during KHL all-star weekend this year.

So far, I’m loving both the Zagidulin and the Yelesin signings. They are both young and talented.
