Default Foaming hand soap for the home

My Wife loves bath and body works, we really love the Cherry scent, but we're getting pretty tired of the plastic waste. Anyone have any recommendations for a hand soap (preferably foaming) that is refillable in town? Maybe with lots of scent options?

Forget liquid I buy the bar soap they sell at Community Natural Foods (I shop at Crowfoot) they have grapefruit, peppermint, spearmint, lemon grass etc. they are all amazing. The tea tree one has poppy seeds if you want exfoliation.

Don't know what your buying options are but the stuff at commercial stores is mostly petroleum derived I hate it.

We like the pump soap because we have toddlers in the home and it just seems more sanitary.

WalMart has a wall of refillable soap. Don't ask me how I know.

That's our backup option but we don't love that because you're still buying new jugs. I'd prefer a place you go and take jugs to refill. The Wife is on a "save the planet" thing

Canary Refillery in Kensington https://canarygoods.ca/ . might have what you're looking for. My wife gets our refillable pump hand soap from there. Not sure about foaming, as we don't use that, but it's probably worth checking out.

I hate soap pumps. Touchless is the only way to go.

God bless you. I can't imagine ever taking my soap dispenser somewhere to be refilled.

Pretty sure that bar soap is most in line, of all the choices, with saving the planet.

Be the change .......

It’s all just feel good stuff anyways. The gas consumption and vehicle emissions from making a special trip to a refillable soap place are worse for the environment then throwing out a soap bottle.

I buy these from Safeway, better than buying a new pump bottle at least every time

I mean, that's like saying I shouldn't use paper bags and cloth bags for groceries because the trip there makes it all not worth while. I can't imagine making "special" trips to a soap store if an online option is available. We already pickup our throw away soaps at the mall, why is this different other than to be a "cool guy" and mock someone trying to teach their kids to make less waste?

Did you make that up or you have the math.

It's not like saying those things at all, though. You've already made the necessary trip to the grocery store for groceries, the bag decision doesn't factor in. Same with going to the mall, you're unlikely to have gone to the mall just to get soap (it's possible, but unlikely).

Half the options suggested here are literally driving to a specialty store (which could be halfway across the city) for just that one product.

As for validity to my comment:

https://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/gr...senger-vehicle

Quote:
The average passenger vehicle emits about 404 grams of CO2 per mile

http://green.brightblue.org.uk/blog/...g-the-evidence

Quote:
The Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable, a coalition of global beverage companies working to improve sustainability in the sector, estimated that one 500ml plastic water bottle (about 10 grams) has an average total CO2 footprint of 82.8 grams

So driving the average passenger vehicle for one mile has roughly the same CO2 footprint of four plastic bottles. Change that to a gas guzzling truck or full size SUV half the city drives, then figure out that your specialty store is likely much further than a mile away, and you can see how it adds up pretty fast.

Your best option is to buy whatever soap is available on a trip that you've already made (like the grocery store example, you're there anyways for necessities), or, at the mall when you're there getting other things as well. Ordering online is just the same problem with someone else doing the driving.

Your best option is to not waste resources and ruin the environment by washing your hands.

Don`t know if its what your`re looking for, but my urine (maybe yours too) makes for an excellent foaming agent. Suggested foaming piss parties to my local barman but he wasn't too keen on the idea. Such is the tragedy of life.
