Thumbs up Good Food You've Eaten Lately

I was just thinking of the various restaurants around the city, and though some of them may be average, sometimes, some of them have one really great thing that they do. So here's a thread to list some of the really good food we've had lately, and where to get it.

My last great experience was yesterday. After an evening stroll, I went into this place called The Purple Perk down on 4th Ave SW. I tried their ginger cookie, and it was by far, the best ginger cookie I've ever had. It's about the size of a CD, about three quarters of an inch thick, and the center is loaded with this icing/cream that made it outta this world. Their home made chips were also pretty damn good!

about three weeks back we went to Lighthouse Cafe in the Stadium Shopping Centre (part of the Billingsgate Fish Market). A basic, unpretentious seafood supper that made me feel I was back in PEI. Fresh and inexpensive, and TASTY!!!!!!

I was pleasantly surprised when I went to Joey's and had their grilled salmon (part of my food plan) with potatoes and veggies, the salmon was nice and fresh and flakey and had a great flavor to it.

That's an impressive little coffee shop, isn't it? I used to work on 4th and each time I went there for lunch, it was packed.

My parents and I had an amazing dinner at that new Latino-fusion restaurant Sabroso on 14th St and 16th Ave. The location has been about 5 or 6 different restaurants in almost as many years, but they seem to have nailed it now. Their Red Snapper Vera Cruz was one of the best dishes I've ever had in my life.

Coco Brooks is very delicious pizza, if a touch too greasy.

Alejandros - new mexican cantina on 1st st SW. At lunch the same location is a MTL smoke meat deli. Soon it will be mexican food full-time. Really nice food and cocktails. Status after flood unknown.

Was at Ox and Angela last Thursday night as the flood waters were creeping up 4th St. The chef's daily sampling menu is great and good value at $45 each.

I've been looking for a nice peanut sate soup for awhile because it seems most Vietnamese places make the clear broth style, and I found one at Tango on McKnight and 4th NE. I had the chicken sate soup. It twas tasty.

Good to hear, we just live down the street and I noticed last week it was open.

We went to Bow Bulgogi last week for the first time and we just loved it. That said, I'm not by any means an expert of Korean food, so take my recommendation for what it's worth.

Village Ice Cream gets two thumbs up as well. While a bit costly, it is really good ice cream.
