186 goals? I can't see that taking him much more than four more seasons. If he plays till he's 45 I could see him getting 1000.

908 pts in 934 games. 0.937p/gm. Not a bad Career. Too bad his 101 point season was an outlier. i wonder how many more Ovi would have if he had been hitting 90+ pts consistently.

I can see the same happening as OV goes after Gretzky's goal scoring record. Backstrom may be 33, but I haven't seen a more underrated player since he came into the league. OV may be be an elite goal scorer. But all goal scorers need an elite set up man. I don't doubt one bit that Caps ownership is going hard after Gretzky's record now that they have a cup and therefore it was an easy decision to re-sign Backstrom at this contract.

Also interesting that OV negotiated his contract without an agent when he signed his, and now Backstrom. That's almost $150 Million for those 2 contracts signed without an agent. The Caps owner seems like a cool chill guy to deal with.
