Norm!

Will the anouncers be yelling BOOM SHAKALAKA every time a goal is scored. Will one of the powers have to wear a different colored helmet and get some kind of advantage when he gets hot. Or maybe a helmet with a flaming torch on top.

Just think about how many goals Mr. 13 goals Kassian would score in this league? The possibilities are limitless!

Hockey isn't all that exciting when you don't care who wins

I think it depends on the player mix.
If's it's older guys in their late 30s who's NHL careers are mostly over then it will likely be all-star game like.
However if you get a mix of guys that could go the ECHL/Europe route but feel like this might be a better way to show their skill set to NHL/AHL franchises and get there name out there then you'll have guys working their tail off for a shot, which could be entertaining.

Well the LNAH was close there for a few years...teams still average around 20 minutes in penalties a night.

This. Pro sports succeeds on the irrational emotional attachments of the fanbase, and this thing would have none of that. It's a gimmick and nothing more.

I think it's interesting they got decent TV deals out of the gate. I guess live sports is still not big on streaming services, so TV networks gobble that #### up in any form they can get

It is a gimmick without emotional attachments, but what if it happens to actually be really good? In my opinion this is a pretty cost effective way of doing a rollout, and if the format catches on I would bet it would change down the road to feature regionally based teams and an actual schedule.
In am intrigued, and I will probably watch. In principle, I don't see how this is all that much different from Rugby Sevens, which is a fantastic game.

Don't forget the AFF had TV deals, and look how long that league lasted.
and that was for American football.
TV deals don't mean anything if nobody watches the games. I can't imagine too many people watching it and allowing the league to meet advertising targets.
America won't care, and I don't think you'll have too many Canadians starved enough for hockey in the summer that they'd want to watch a gimmick league.

Scoring Winger
|
It sounds like they are basing this off of a 7's Rugby tournament. 7 min halves, run time. Tonnes of scoring and action. Great game. However that is based on National teams playing each other and as someone mentioned it would be tough to get behind it if there is no affiliation of the teams. Go team Yellow? I think it would work if it was Germany Vs Suisse vs Russians vs Canada etc.

Team Quebec
USA West (incl. Minnesota)
USA mid west

A little easier to jump into, like a curling tournament.

I think they have something like this for basketball with some former NBA players. Im not sure how popular it is but apparently the season is during the summer which would be great for getting your hockey fix.

All I can get

This would probably be SPHL-level players. Pro players use the off-season to heal and train, not risk injury.
Might work better with women players, who don't currently have a pro league.

Very similar to the game of Rugby 7s which I love because of the fast pace, high scoring and action. This could be a lot of fun.

Yeah but Rugby 7s has international teams featuring some of the world’s best players.
A hockey 3s league featuring random teams of random NHL cast offs doesn’t really interest me.
