come on now, even when you posted this they had the exact same amount of points as the Flames and we know how poor their season has been. Despite Tkachuk playing as well as could possibly be imagined they have a very poor record.
If the Flames have a poor record (I think everyone will agree) so do the Panthers. I'm certainly glad the Flames have a first rounder in this draft though.

Which team wins the trade when both teams get worse and miss the playoffs?

You really seem to care about the Panthers so let me absolve you of your worries.
The Panthers suck, they suck defensively (Marc Staal in their top four) and I would trust Bob about as much I would trust Putin. But even worse is that they hired Paul Maurice as their HC who does nothing. I WISH they had Sutter as their HC, I think Barkov would thrive under his system like Kopitar.
Even if they make the playoffs they won't go anywhere so you can sleep tight lol.

I'm simply debating with a poster who feels they are doing something special that puts Tkachuk in the Hart convo. They have the Flames record...it is what it is.
They might make it because the Eastern wild card sucks but unlike the West those top team will pound the WC teams.

It does make me laugh a little.
Huberdeau had 115 points last year, was +35, and outscored the next team mate by 27 points. (65.35% GF%)
Tkachuk is on pace 111 points, is + 21, and is on pace to outscore his next team mate by 35 points. (62.67 GF%)
So really in terms of impact to the Panthers their offensive performance isn't that different YoY. They did get a player that is 4.5 years younger, and Tkachuk is the better 200 ft player and play driver. But the team really misses Weegar a lot.
In terms of making the Panthers better in the short term when they are trying to contend for a cup I still don't think it made them better. Trade might actually be a little bit lose - lose at this point, really Tkachuk is the only person coming out ahead...which is exactly what Tkachuk is all about.

Every post is a reply or a rebuttal
It's the biggest NHL trade in years and the Flames were involved... certainly noteworthy IMO

And the Panthers have traded 3 years worth of first to get here...oh no I hope that doesn't put me over my Florida posting quota

I think he's outposted me, an actual fan of the Panthers, by a 10 to 1 count. It's a little obsessive.

Both the Panthers and Flames look like #### this year.
But moving forward, who would you rather have? Tkachuk or Huberdeau?
It’s pretty clear for any sane person
The trade was ok at the time but…..

Yeah because the Flames traded Tkachuk for Huberdeau and chose to do it

Daddy Tkachuk says the Panthers are soft:
https://floridahockeynow.com/keith-t...m-a-soft-team/
Quote:
Keith Tkachuk, the five-time NHL All-Star who is the father of Florida Panthers All-Star forward Matthew, had some choice words for his son’s team on a Toronto radio station Wednesday morning.
Speaking on Toronto 1050, Keith Tkachuk said his son is “devastated” with the team’s current spot as the Panthers go into tonight’s game against the Maple Leafs riding a four-game losing streak.
The position the Panthers are in, Keith Tkachuk said, are of their own doing.
|
Quote:
“They are a soft team and they are getting everything they deserve right now.”
To continue on that point, Keith Tkachuk said for the Panthers to snap their losing streak in Toronto, they need to bring a little more toughness to their game.
“Instead of trying to get autographs on the ice from Matthews and Marner,” he said, “they probably should check them a little harder. Whatever it is, it is disappointing. I know I sound like a frustrated person, but I know every time I come and watch Ottawa, they may not be the most talented team but they’re going to play hard.

He will likely be a good one. I suspect better than Connor Mackey out of the two Arizona dmen.

Keith did look pretty pissed during the Panthers-Sens game
Also recall him telling Leslie or Francis that it was a sad day, after the trade happened.

It was not hard to see.
We lost a very good player due to a stubborn Head Coach clashing with him and having an incredibly narrow view of what "competing now" is.
This team has to do better. That can't happen. If Valimaki and Sutter didn't click - where the !@#$ were the Assistant/Associate coached to put a hand out and help the guy?
I'm sure the internal workings of a team is a tad more complicated than I can even begin to understand, but the Flames simply
need to do better.

He was trash the last couple of seasons he was here (including playing regularly under Ward) and anyone saying anything else is being insincere.
