I mean, I remember going there as a kid, the cheap rubber stank of the shoe department, the diner with the booths and melamine tables... None of that is good. I want zero of that in my life ever again.

I still want Canadian K-Mart, Consumers Distributing, Woolco, Woodwards (Food Floor), Beaver Lumber, and Toys & Wheels Back!

- Have stores that look better than Walmart's, and are better maintained.
- Have the same commodity goods within 10% of Walmart's price.
- Have housewares and clothing that are better than Walmart's.
So no, they won't succeed.

I’m still really annoyed that all the downtown Wendy’s closed over Christmas and NONE have since reopened. So annoyed. RGMG

What is RGMG?
I'm guessing they were all owned by the same franchisee and he felt it wasn't worth doing business in downtown anymore once all the leases were up.

I went to Rita's sandwiches for the first and last time today. Why didn't I know about this for the last twenty years? The grandpa running it is retiring.
Home made turkey and home made roast beef? Wow! The turkey was hand carved, they asked if I wanted white or dark. The roast beef looked like they roasted it themselves.

They closed long before Christmas.

There are 3 Ghost Kitchen Wendy's that are set up in downtown. My guess franchisee decided to go that route rather than finding a new store front.

Tell me more. How do I find these ghost kitchens?

I was briefly at Sunridge yesterday and decided to check out Zellers.
I was expecting a full floor at Hudsons Bay to be Zellers. Instead it was like 4 isles with Zellers signage and some stuff that wouldn't normally be at The Bay. It was lame.
I do think that a properly executed Zellers can be immensely successful in 2023. I imagine a Winners/Walmart hybrid with a diner, playing up the nostalgia factor (which admittedly I don't care much for personally).
If this thing fails, it's not because there is no appetite for a relaunched Zellers, but no appetite for whatever the hell they are attempting to do right now.

Food delivery apps like skip/ubereats/doordash probably. Screw that I don't want to pay food delivery fees. I want my afternoon wake up Frostie at 2PM by taking a walk in the +15.

Correct! I was very excited to try the east village location only to find out there is no walk up option. I thought it was there like a food truck for events.

Is it really Wendy’s, or am I going to end up with a Wemdy’s burger?
The idea of ghost kitchens seem sketchy to me, but they might be the wave of the future.

I went to the Detroit game a few weeks ago and walked home through the East Village. I was surprised to see it was open after the game. I've walked past it many times during the day and it's never been open.

Is there really that much demand for Wendy's delivery?

Apparently not. I was interested so I did a quick google. Apparently Wendy’s is paring back its deal with the ghost kitchen company Reef Kitchens.

Glad I'm not the only one who's confused. There are many things I am nostalgic for...but Zellers sure as hell isn't one of them. All I remember is bad lighting, linoleum, bad cafeteria food, and that bear with the points.
if we're gonna bring back a bear mascot, let's start with the A&W bear with the tuba!

If you're hankering for the Consumers Distributing experience but are flexible on the goods being sold, you can still get it at Lee Valley.

Will most of the things I choose be out of stock too? Do I get to wait at the counter for the guy to disappear into the back before bringing me word of my disappointment?

You can check stock levels on the website before going in so you can be ensured what you ask for will be out of stock.
