Just a reminder that if you step back and look at the state of the USA, it’s obviously a declining nation.
Yes lots of wealth, but what are they doing to ensure the next generation is a world leader? Infrastructure? Education? Policy?
The US is in obvious decline across almost all metrics other than super rich people.
Having lived in Argentina and UK it seems pretty obvious the outcome of the US.
The unknown is that the the US has a massive military presence and nuclear weapons. Can they sustain supporting their military considering their domestic issues? At some point there will be a reckoning, and what happens then is unpredictable.
Every western nation is in decline, billionaires are bleeding the middle class dry. We really need an "eat the rich" revolt worldwide for generation Z and beyond to have any shot at decent lives

the careless handling of these documents is just baffling to me. How do these documents just randomly end up in the drawer or old garages of those politicians without anybody missing them for years? Crazy stuff.
It's what I've been saying since the Biden documents thing came out.
Clinton, Bush, Pence, etc. etc. etc. Anyone from a past administration with access to classified documents has an issue.

Sinema has a challenger for her seat in the Senate. Writing was on the wall for a while based on polling which is why she went independent. Didn't have any options left as Gallego would've destroyed her in a Primary. Saw some polls just before she left the party where almost 80% preferred Gallego over Sinema.

This will give an auto win to the republican I assume, if Sinema runs as an independent. It's pretty much a no win situation for the Democrats for this seat if Sinema doesn't go away.
I find it interesting that all his promotional materials say nothing about which party he is. His campaign colours are unaligned and his website doesn't even say he's a Democrat.

Doubtful, especially if that candidate is Keri Lake. I can't see Sinema running as an independent. That would be a massive waste of money, and she's all about the Benjamins. She'll end up in some high-priced lobbyist job and make her scratch that way. The most recent polling I've seen from the Dems is Sinema having only 13% from Democrats. In a three way poll, she barely had an impact on Gallego against Lake. This is all internal polling so who knows how it actually would play out. Sinema knows she is done so I think she'll take her money and run to the private sector.
On a side note, I've interacted with Gallego on a few occasions and I find him to be every bit the opportunist that Sinema and Lake are. I don't think there is an ounce of character between them. Gallego is the most pragmatic, but he understands what is up for grabs here and he wants his moment in the spotlight and his nose in the trough no different than the other two. I don't see a nominee that has their constituents in mind. It's all a game and is about money and power, not about governance or representation for all Arizonans.

I don't know if high level politicians just presume the rules don't apply to them, or if they never really get trained to handle sensitive materials. I deal with Protected materials sometimes and I have to keep them in a locked filing cabinet, only take them out when I am using them, and have to follow specific procedures for return or destruction when I am done with them. I certainly couldn't just take a bunch of the stuff home with me. I presume US rules are similar and the files in these incidents have a way higher security classification than anything I'd deal with.
I don't think it's necessarily true that the docs being found have way higher classification, they could just be stuff that's among the tons of over-classified documents.

I imagine that someone at the VP / Presidential level develops a certain amount of “Classified exhaustion.” Some crazy-huge percentage of the paper that comes across their desk must be classified at various levels. They also know they are immune - to a certain extent - from the kinds of consequences “ordinary” people face when it comes to those kinds of documents.
Biden was on the Foreign Affairs committee from 1997-2008 and then VP from 08-16. Almost 20 years of dealing with classified documents.
Pence was on Foreign Affairs from 07-13, then Governor for 4 years, then VP for 4 years, that’s 14 years where his staff are putting classified docs in front of him.
This isn’t to say it’s an excuse, but given the vast swaths of classified paperwork that bureaucracy produces, finding a few examples in the homes and offices of the highest-ranking members of the executive shouldn’t be all that surprising.
What should be looked at is exactly what kinds of documents we’re talking about and how do the respective individuals respond to their discovery.

Body cam footage of the hammer attack on Paul Pelosi has been released. I had no idea it happened in front of the cops. It’s not overly graphic but it’s still disturbing to watch.
