No Bedard for the Flames, but this team should be in the throws of a rebuild by 2026, shouldn't it??

The timing might work out for the Gavin McKenna draft year.

It's early but he has 15 points in 14 games so far as a 14/15 year old (he turned 15 in December) in the WHL.

Also put up Bedard like numbers in the CSSHL leading the league in scoring two years straight as a 13/14 and then 14/15 year old.

What makes you think the Flames will do it properly when they had the McDavid sweepstakes and they went to the playoffs that year while rebuild is still in progress and then now with the Bedard sweepstakes and they're pushing hard to try and get the last wildcard position? 3 years from now, Flames will be right where they are for the last few years, right smack dab in the middle of the pack. Guaranteed!

And McKenna is Bedard's cousin. Two years after that we can pick Micki Dupont's kid.

That would be great as Dupont is a local and would hopefully be all for a long Flames career.

Plus, it is too hard to think of witty rhyme for Gavin McKenna. With Dupont, you could go with "Skid for Micki's kid".

I like that. It's even better if you sing it in an Adam Sandler Opera Man voice.

Flames 79 points
WSH 76
OTT 75, 1 game in hand
BUF 72, 3 games in hand

Buffalo is in the potential Bedard spot. It’s doable to get there but it will take some focus, and some help on the OOT.

Looks like 12 to 15 is almost surely the range the Flames will fall, with 14 being the most likely.

Bedard is still very much in play with a full tank.

How does a full tank work? You put in the AHLers and they’ve been better than the NHLers this season so if anything they’d hurt our chances.

You replace guys like Toffoli, Backlund, Andersson with AHLers.

You don't trade a 26 year old 1st pairing dman that's signed for less than 5 million for 3 more years even if you are tanking.

When did I say anything about trading? I'm talking about scratching guys or moving them to the Wranglers for the final 9 games.

Ah. I didn't read enough prior posts. I thought you meant tanking for more than the last 9 games. Like rebuild type tank.

Well, we all know this team won't do the smart thing to get a better draft pick even with the results tonight. Not that we would have more than a miniscule chance at Bedard anyway.

Hmmm... maybe some guys could be put on IR needing to leave the team for personal reasons. Not like there's no precedent for that...

Those would be gm moves . The coach dictates the players on the Ice. Not possible with Sutter.

So bleeping sad this idiotic franchise wasted so many sweet Bedard points. It's great we get to be set back a few more years just to satisfy Sutter's pride. Peak sadness here we come.

I wonder how a rebuild and tank would go if Wolf if is the real deal? Do you wreck his development by keeping him in the AHL or playing him behind a tank team? Interesting decisions ahead for the Flames.
