Default 2017-18 NHL schedule release!

The schedule will probably be released next Tuesday!
John Shannon has said home opening games will come out this Friday.

Here's hoping the home openers get announced today. It's getting a little late in New York on a Friday.

Looking forward to the Flames dates in Vegas. Though I'm now thinking Nashville might be better. Actually, a Vegas-Nashville roadie would be awesome.

I really hope they don't open against the Oilers or Canucks and ideally don't face either team in the first month. Regardless of the coach or players on the roster the Flames seem to be perennial slow starters since the 2004 lockout and you can argue the Oilers cemented their spot ahead of the Flames in the regular season based on the opening two games alone last season. Would be nice to open up on an eastern road trip or something as if the Flames are going to come out of the gates slow I would prefer they give up free points to teams that aren't in the division if possible.

Yeah I hate those Oiler/Canuck home and homes to start. It's annoying mainly cause the Flames have typically rusty starts and the games are usually awful hockey with too much pressure surrounding them, then also grants those teams early bragging rights when we don't hit the ground running, even though we always play them better later in the season.

Or it'd be nicer if management made their roster decisions earlier in the preseason so the team could have a few games to gel. I'm pretty sure we were running all new lines and pairings to start the season, and then we were all confused why the team was playing with no composure.

I'm just hoping one of those options is on a Saturday.

I think Gulutzan has to tighten things up in preseason this year in the last few games of preseason put most of the final roster together and have the guys playing with regular season intensity. They seemed to be playing at half speed and no line cohesion last preseason and it showed as they were unprepared to start the season.

Cemented their spot over the flames on those two games? Um, didn't Calgary pass Edmonton in February?

Sure, you can argue those games cemented it, but you would be wrong.

I've been waiting for this schedule for months so I can book the time off for exactly this.

There are two sources reporting that the home openers will be announced on Wednesday, June 21 and the entire league schedule released on Thursday, June 22.
"The Sabres open at home on Thursday, Oct. 5 or Friday, October 6 and then hit the road on an extended trip."

Cool, Vegas to finish the season. When was the last time the Flames finished at home? Seems like they've been in California for a few seasons.
