Mangiapane is a good fit with the first line IMO. That line is missing their primary puck handler. Toffolli is a fit to play right side but the line would be slow and have nobody capable in transition. Mangiapane is a better fit unless they break up Lindholm and Tkachuk. If that happens Mangiapane will be playing with 1 of them.
Also has a great chance to be on the first pp. Once again who is gaining the blue line? Mangiapanes role could get a huge bump
Also, not sure a guy with under $8 mil career earnings should be passing up long term deal after a career year even if he is likely to duplicate it. No way he should risk a 1 year deal because he might get $7 mil next year vs $6 mil this year. Play for another big contract is less risky

I'd be super on board with a 6x6.

Pay the man . Also , explain to him we need more . More consistent play needs to happen . He was on fire last year and then it really dropped off.
I like this player. Great motor, great attitude, has gotten better each year . He deserves an A and a raise. I hope we can keep him here.

Flames need more Mangiapanes not less. If he signs long term I'm buying a jersey.

Just my opinion.

I like it. Something positive for a jilted fan base. I actually really appreciate this right now that SOME ONE wants to be here lol. I know I just mentioned him as a trade chip but thats because I thought he wanted out to. I'll take him with open arms if he wants to stay.

Zadorov was the first to come back and be vocal about his desire to come back to play in Calgary.

Me too, but not a penny more; his p/g production is on par with McCann, but McCann is making 5mil AAV on a 5 year deal. The other thing that worries me is Mang's shooting % was 18.9% this past season... if that falls even a little bit, it will hurt his goal output.
That said, Mang is an advanced stats darling, plays a solid 200ft game, and gives you his absolute all every shift. His likely expanded role will likely lead to higher production this upcoming season.

All depends on what he wants.
In itself, wanting a long term deal is fine.
But I bet we won't like the ask.

The idea that the agent is clowning our management with a public request like this post Gaudreau should give us all pause about what's going on in the office.
Love Mangiapane, I hope we do get him signed long term, but I think this is a shot in the face to the club.

I actually really liked Zadorov's compete against Dallas and Edmonton.
He destroyed his body trying to make big game plays (yikes, that puck step) when no one would ask a player in his position as a 5/6D to step up like that.
Great competitor with some untapped skill.

Imagine if we got a goal per game clip from him in the back half instead instead of the front half of the season.
A goal in each PO game makes a big difference in their run.
Hopefully he can string together some full seasons in his future

I can't remember for sure, but I feel like early on, he was one of only a couple guys consistently scoring and on many nights, the only guy, which directly led to wins versus losses. Could be wrong though.

5.5x8.
Don’t #### around with a medium term deal. Either you believe in him or you don’t so lock him up for 8 years or trade him.

A little exaggerated. He scored 18 goals from Oct through Dec. 1 goal in January - his real dry point. Then 16 goals from Feb through April.
Arguably his 3 goals in 12 games post season was an issue. But 2 of them came in the last 5 games (game 1 win and game 5 rip-off).
