It seems to have gone downhill in the press after the Kane signing, which none of the usually loyal press messengers for Lowe really could stomach and the line was drawn. I think there was a bit of a mutiny behind the scenes and that spilled over to the relationships those guys had with players in the room as the players stood behind Kane (some of them) and the media members were less than impressed with that stance.
That’s because soon after that, the media and players have been taking snipes at each other in pressers, starting with Driasital, then Nurse and McDavid and here we are. Spector may also have fallen out of favour if he wasn’t pumping the tires more over the early part of the year, so the juicy internal tidbits he got about the roster and other happening have been shut off, so he’s got less time on Oilers-run TV and less access, and is crabby about it.
