They totally need to change it. It's just not Gio's year this year.
Put Lucic on PP1 with Andersson. Take out Tkachuk and Gio and use them on the 2nd unit.

Kind of. Crosby has been playing hurt this year and held off a surgery until Malkin returned, and he’s been out over a month now.

I'd rather lose to the Oilers but beat them in the standings... But hopefully we'll beat them in the game and the standings.

Weird that they would play Rieder at center over Bennett.

Get him some games in a lesser defensive role first, get his offensive zone time/confidence up first

As a coach I'd be switching up my PP lines every time the production dried up for more than a few games. Never understood the lack of experimentation when it came to the PP. Especially when you see guys like Gio clearly struggling offensively yet you have him quarterbacking your first unit..

A power play is about repetition and set plays. While I agree about the square pegs round holes, its not something that gets mixed up on the fly often.

Good start taking Janko out. Is it weird I want more Rinaldo? Not seeing anyone I would take out for him though.

Darren Haynes @DarrenWHaynes
We’ll see how they line up tonight, but if Sam Bennett is in for Mark Jankowski, it would make more sense you’d think for Bennett to play center — or at least take the face-offs. Rieder has only taken 134 face-offs in his career and his win percentage is an uninspiring 33.6%.

I asked Sam that very question this morning. Said he and Rieder have talked it over, and Rieder will start by taking the draws. If Rieder is struggling or they want a different look at some point, Bennett will jump in.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Haven't seen Bennett yet playing under HC Ward. Wonder if he also sees a boost in play like so many of his teammates have. Will be an interesting night for sure.

It's gonna take more than Ward to fix that hockey IQ!
Maybe a Ward, a Bowman, a D Sutt, and 2 Badger Bobs.

Bennett had a shoulder injury didn't he? Jumping right back into taking draws might be a tough ask. Similar to how Monahan didn't take draws for awhile after his wrist surgery.

Sure but has Rieder ever played C? He's listed always as a winger on most sites, whereas usually if a guy played C ever they include that as a position. Like Czarnik.
answered above, more or less

Love these lines. Switch Andersson and Hamonic, and we are getting close to the perfect lineup for the current roster.

I would be happy to see Rinaldo and Rieder perpetually rotate - keep them both hungry and motivated.
