I thought it was in game 6. I recall it also being a breakaway. Had the goalie beat and clanked it off the iron.

Without looking it up, I now think it was before the Ducks scored the game winner, which as you say was with about 5 minutes to go. So was maybe shortly before that.
I remember Huselius starting to raise his arms. Sigh...

I hate 2006 perhaps the most. When Getzlaf scored a "goal" by grabbing the puck with his hand and basically throwing it in the net and the refs called it a good goal. At least that's how I remember it...
Hes a POS

The Flames were first round favourites in 90, 91, 93, 94, 95 and 06. It is depressing to look back at those missed opportunities. Thinking about what if the Flames did not choke:
-1990: The Flames probably lose to the Oilers in the 2nd round.
-1991: A run to the finals is very possible. I still think the Pens win the Cup though.
-1993: Cup Champs! Calgary would have been a much tougher matchup for the Habs.
-1994: Cup Champs! Like above Calgary wold have been a tougher matchup for the Rangers.
-1995: I'd like to think a Cup run is possible by in reality if Trevor Kidd doesn't blow it in the first round he probably just blows it in the 2nd round.
-2006: Cup Champs! The 2nd round vs the Oilers would have been tough but get through that and the cup was theirs.
Edited: got 94 and 95 confused for some reason.

Thankfully his decline is now imminent.

Yeah, that is exactly how I remember it. When Huselius started down the ice I was sure it was all but over.

Bob Reichel was a great player but incredibly non-clunch in big moments.
He also blew an open net chance in the waning moments of a playoff game - I wanna say against Chicago?

1992, Don Cherry says the Flames would have likely won the Cup if they had made the playoffs!

I recall game 7 against Vancouver where he just had chance after chance in OT. 1994 I guess? It was ridiculous watching him be unable to bury any of those. They went to OT in game 7 against Sharks the next year but I believe I’m thinking of the Canucks series.

In 2006 the flames probably would have won the cup. Of all my years as a flames fan, that the 2006 Game 6 and 7 loss was the worst. In 2004, the team had nothing left. In 2009, the flames were destroyed by injuries.
But, in 2006, the flames had no excuses and had as clear a path to the finals as any team could. They were up 3-2 against Anaheim and then would have faced the 8th seed in the quarters, then the 5th seed in the semi-finals before getting a Carolina team in the finals.
So brutal.

1990 -- Repeat as Champs. Screw you, Morel.
1991 -- Finals at least. Might have been tough to beat Mario and Jagr, but they would have had the "we've been here before" edge that can sometimes make the difference in the Final.
1993 -- I don't have many memories of 1993 (*glug glug*), so I can't say.
1994 -- Finals at least. Good chance they beat the Rangers since the Canucks were able to push them to Game 7 and the Flames were better than the Nucks.
1995 -- It would all have depended on Kidd. Not a lot of faith he could have carried them far.
2006 -- Destroy the Oilers and win the Cup.
2017 -- Gulutzan's coaching would have seen them destroyed by the Oilers in the second round. Blech.

Exactly this. More 2nd round exits would be similar to the reputation the Sharks or Caps had for a while. Good regular season team who could never get over the hump.

In 2017, If our goaltending was merely 15th worst out of all the teams in the playoffs, rather than worst, we are probably tied 2-2 or up 3-1 after 4 games.
If our goaltending had been even average in the series, we would have swept the Ducks.
The Flames goalies gave up 7 goals on low danger scoring chances in that series - in 4 games. All 4 games were 1 goal games. Do the math.
By the way, the 4 semi finalist teams had given up a COMBINED 6 such goals in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
