Perhaps Flames should lose out games for the remainder of the season to lose home ice advantage in first round, so our goalies will be more adequate then.

I think the Flames are at their best playing a counterattack / rush game. At home we play a cycle / backcheck game and it backfires. Need to play Hartley Hockey at home and Gully hockey on the road.

Without thinking of trades...
who are the UFA or RFA goalies in the league currently at the end of this season?

I would believe some goalies &/or agents would look at the Flames as an excellent destination now given where the team is this season without great goaltending.

The answer is quite simple and it's that bad goaltenders play bad in general and for whatever reason they play worse at home.

The Flames win more than 70% of their home games, so it is hard to see that anything “backfires.” I think you may be right about the difference in approach on home ice v. the road, and this creates a disparity in zone time and scoring chances as has been pointed out earlier in this thread.

The main reason they have won 70% of their home games is because they score a lot of goals on home ice. Smith hasn't played well in the Saddledome since becoming a Flame and for Rittich it may come down to the added pressures of trying to play well in front of the fans.

The team plays a lot more tight in my opinion with Smith in the net. Seem like their scars to make a mistake.

Don't fully disagree with either of these points.

But over two seasons, of over 70+ games at both home and the road, we have the 2nd best save percentage on the road, and the worst save percentage at home.

Seems like there has to be some bigger reason. Whether it's the team style of play as some have mentioned, or if it's the mental pressure on our goalies at home.

The eye test suggests a lot of goals on home ice are awful goals that our goalies should have saved. Like the three last night or every other goal smith let's in on home kce.

So it seems that it's either (1) goalies not being ready to play and (2) the pressure of playing at home is getting in their heads
