I don’t know why, but I’ve recently become nostalgic for the old ghetto c9 incandescent lights. I might even unscrew a few to complete the look.

They use a lot more power though. Just a quick look, a 20' string uses 175 watts. A 33' length of LED uses 6W.

You can get replacement LED C9 (and C7) bulbs that use a lot less energy. I had some that were 0.6 watts per bulb, or 15 watts for a string of 25.

I went back to putting those on my Christmas tree. They're better than LEDs for pictures - and we do family photos every year. I've been meaning to see if LEDs have gotten any better. Last time I tried them, maybe 6-7 years ago, they weren't to my liking.

Can't speak for Gemstones, but my Watt's lights are awesome. Super bright, great app, and I thought the price was pretty reasonable!
They are super swamped right now though. I wouldn't be surprised if they are booking out into the new year right now given demand for these things and the inclement weather.

Gemstone was $5700 and Watts was $4400 for my house. I have no idea on the quality of the lights for either of them.

This is my concern.
What is the life of this type of set up and is it repairable?

Lumenox just sent me an email as I requested a quote and they say their pricing is $21/lineal foot. Looks like they say this so homeowners can estimate a ballpark before they come out.

I THINK my Watts warranty is for like 5 years, and they're just individual panels they string together. Should take a technician 5 minutes to swap one out if it breaks (depending on location).

I highly recommend anyone getting these lights done to purchase extras for replacements. There is no guarantee that a company is going to be around in 1-3-5 years. Everything is purchased from China and you should be able to track down replacement parts with some effort. To avoid that headache I would buy replacements off the hop. The company selling you the lights doesn't want to tell you what the manufacturer/chipset is for them so future proof for yourself!
Majority of lights come from a couple of mass producers but it is hard to tell who their contracts are with and what changes to the chipset they have made to make things work with their proprietary apps. Not to mention major quality control problems in the LED outsde lighting industry the last 2 years which would have been when majority of these companies starting ramping up their inventory and sales.
