YEG (Edmonton) just rescinded this IIRC. If YYC has not I would expect it to happen soon. This was a Covid precaution and is temporary.

WestJet launching Seattle in November from YYC and have also begun Charlottetown (new route IIRC) also from YYC. Looking through their website I also see the return of many US and sun destinations that had been suspended.

Almost an hour-long wait to get a temperature checked before security screening. What an absolute waste of everyone’s time! If someone wants to get on the plane - one Tylenol gets you a pass. Masks are mandatory everywhere. By now, if you didn’t get fully vaccinated, you probably just don’t want it and don’t care. Why are we collectively bending over backwards to protect those???

Not to turn this into a Covid discussion, but I think part of the rationale is that there are a decent amount of vulnerable folks that cannot get the vaccine (immunocompromised, etc) and so its not just the "hurr durr anti-vaxx'ers" these measures are for. (plus the whole 'being trapped in a tube with them for hours on end' piece)
Anyways, I'd say this discussion is for the COVID forum if you have followup.

Well, sure. This stupid order is from Health Canada and could be debated in the COVID threads. But this is also about YYC managing the protocol so poorly. They had 7 employees walking along the huge line, looking all important and telling people to be patient. Give them thermometers and move the line seven times times faster. Why aggravate people unnecessarily? Two people next to us have missed their domestic flights by being at the terminal an hour and a half early. This is insanely unacceptable.

Does anyone know why the flights have been landing and taking off on the east/west runway the last few days? It is unusual unless the wind is out of the west but the last few days have been constant.

Would be nice if the article would say what was being done but in fairness even the airport website doesn't specify. They just resurfaced that runway a few years ago IIRC so will be interesting to see what is going to be done now.

My fear is taking that runway out of service for an extended period of time. I remember circling for a really long time before they had parallel ops.
Is that what we are in for while they do this work? F that.

If only they had a long period of time with reduced air travel that the work could be done in with few negative effects. Hrmmmm,

Yup, and that window is closing. They lost 18 months of prime opportunity. If only the Feds had a stimulus program available to help the economy during the pandemic.

Calgary International Airport is planning for a demonstration Sunday afternoon — organized by a vocal anti-vaccine figure — which may impact access to and from the airport.
The expected rally is part of what the organizer says is planned to be a larger protest across the country.
Chris Saccoccia, who has also identified himself as "Chris Sky" both in interviews and online, said in a video posted on Twitter that he will be in Calgary Sunday.
Saccoccia is a prominent figure in Canada's anti-mask, anti-vaccine and anti-lockdown movement.

Question, coming from the west on Airport Trail is it now better to access the terminal via the new 19 Street overpass or via Barlow?

It's pretty much the same as before... if picking up on arrivals level 19 St remains faster, but departures level and parking requires Barlow as it did before.
