Gaudreau is tied for 5th in the league in points. He can eat tin cans if he wants.
Definitely improves the title though

If he wasn't one of the best players in the league then his diet would be more of a concern. It doesn't appear to hinder him much. If he was a different type of player then this would probably be a problem.

A big guy who needs to drive the forecheck needs to put on and maintain muscle weight. He probably couldn't eat like this and be effective in his role. Same goes for a guy like McDavid who needs to use those powerful crossovers to generate speed and use his speed and body position to beat guys.

Johnny is special because of his hands and vision. That depends less on diet than other valuable hockey attributes. If he ate better he might be slightly better but I doubt it has much effect on his game. He's a world class player and, with that, comes a certain benefit of the doubt. If he was dogging it out there, failing to put up points, not driving the play then we could probably start complaining about his diet.

Meh, if I could eat jelly beans all day and make millions of dollars and not get diabetes or get fat, I'd do it too.

That being said, he's going to cut his career very short if he doesn't take that stuff seriously. Then again, who cares. yolo baby.

Gaudreau can eat whatever he wants, it seems to be working.

If anything I have an issue with his taste in food. Pasta with butter, ham and cheese, and skittles? Give carbonara, prosciutto and provolone, and macarons a try. You are a millionaire Johnny, step up your food game.

How do we know that? This has been his regimen all of his life.

A change in his diet might have negative consequences for all we know. He knows he has to maintain his weight and seems to work on that.

If I see a dramatic decline in production on the ice, then I might start to grumble about his diet.

On a side note pizza is really good for athletes as a quick meal on the road. Being 100% serious. Apparently it has a perfect protein to carb ratio. And the fat is good too because it helps the players retain weight - apparently its normal for players to lose 10-15lbs through the season because they're so active but have limited time to hit the weight room or get enough calories. I think if you get it with a side salad it's almost perfect (just a bit salty)

Hudler tells the story of Johnny's post game meal the night Gio got injured back in 2015 (at 1:20):

Owners, Coaches and GM's do, not a huge deal at 25 but by 30 if he doesn't get proper nutrients his stamina will be sucked out of him.

Johnny if you're reading. I too wasn't a fan of veggies until I found a secret for great taste.

Sriracha dipping sauce

Johnny has just developed his body to the point where he runs so efficiently that he only needs glucose and gluten to replenish his energy reserves. Vitamins and nutrients are for us feeble mortals.

Could we please just get Phil Kessel's hot dog stand moved outside Jhonny's house so he can get a decent meal.

Ps this thread sucks

Mario Lemieux smoked a pack a day. I’d have him on my team anyway. Johnny can do what works for a Johnny - accept that he’s an exception to the rule and be happy about that.

Don’t fix what’s working, I’m sure Gaudreau and the Flames would do something if they felt it was effecting his play. This is coming from someone who is currently on the Keto diet.
