Let’s just all take a breathe and remember that players go through slumps. Let the guy work out his game. It’s a long season.

He’s had one great season and otherwise he’s been like a 3 win player. Which is fine but it’s not someone you spend 35/year on. I mean if this is his peak well I’d hate to pay for his valleys.

Meh, I’m willing to give him some runway and see how he does over the whole season.

Which is what the Jays are doing. Now maybe it’s good and it lowers Vlads expectations for a contract where he’ll take 10/300 and not 10/350.

Gurriel Jr is now hitting .319 with a .935OPS. I miss that pineapple man.

He always had high upside but was often injured. Plus I don't think he was as disciplined at the plate. Taking hacks at bad stuff doesn't seem to be a problem with coaching - those guys are just shipped out at year end. I think you're seeing a pretty undisciplined approach this year by many Jays again, with little improvement from a coaching standpoint. We realize that old habits die hard, but we should see more pitches taken. I do believe that's on the coaching staff enforcing a philosophy.

Well as of right now they're 7th in OBP and the 24th fewest strike outs. So I am not sure they're that undisciplined. Hitting a baseball at 95 MPH is really hard, you're going to see strike outs. The real is issue lack of power. 14th in home runs, 10th in doubles. Not horrible. Not great.

True, and the statistics are what they are. Could be a bias based on their terrible approaches when runners are in scoring position.

You're not wrong about their performance with RISP, 20th in AVG, 18th in OPS.

Actually going to a Vancouver Canadians game tonight for the first time in probably over 25 years. What player(s) should I watch for?

Kasevich was their 2nd rounder last year, plays short stop, great contact hitter but needs more power!
Cade Doughty is a top prospect for the Jays too, not really eye popping numbers in Vancouver though.

Why does a book take precedent over basic human decency? Why should a book written so long ago have any relevance to life today? The world has changed so much since whenever the damn thing was written!
Look, I am a straight, white, middle aged man, but even I know better. Why should I care who you love? Who you have relations with? It affects me in no way at all! Love is love and be who you are!
Why shouldn't people who are different than me be allowed to endorse products? be recognized? have the same privileges and rules as everybody else?

I would DFA him.
His beliefs and opinions do not align and run against those of the the city, province, country and, I hope, the organization he plays within.

He’s definitely put the Jays in a brutal situation just before Pride. DFAing him would create a backlash against the Jays that could blowback on the LGBTQ community but keeping him is a statement that Pride with the Jays is just pinkwashing. It’s also a big distraction from a guy who has only recently shown signs of being any good this season.
