Lowest rate of violent crime per capita in Canada by a good margin.

The solution is to drive a beater; no one wants to jack that car.

You MIGHT get caught, and if you're that unluckly, it doesn't really matter. You'll be back out in a day or two while you await trial, and just pick up another illegally smuggled handgun from the U.S. for about $300-500 and you're good to go again, and again, and again.
And if you get convicted, you'll probably do less than 12-18 months in jail, if that...

That's quite the logic jump.

Just ask cops, they'll tell you this very exact same thing...

Nope, it's an uncomfortable reality in all major Canadian cities. My buddies who are cops, and a few others that are defense attorneys, tell me the same thing.
The revolving door is real, just that most people don't really face it every day, so we're all kind of busy living our lives ignoring it.

If you commit a crime - yes - I assume you are more likely to commit another one than a random person. But I also highly doubt they are saying - oh I'll commit this crime because its just a year in a jail.
I'd also ask - is there any corrolation between length of prison term and likeliness to reoffend. Is there any proof that longer time in jail makes one less likely to re-offend?

When your car is worth as much as a house these things can happen

Who's driving around a 1M+ car? Or a 50 year old $800K car? Whoops, sorry, I'm thinking Vancouver prices...

Certainly gives them less time to do so. Like the #### with a rap sheet longer than the Iliad, including weapons convictions and failure to comply with release conditions 6 months before killing his 23 year old ex girlfriend.
#### Fancy vehicles. We can’t even protect people from the trash that the courts convict time and time again and demonstrate they won’t not reoffend. ####ing joke

A Toronto house is worth approximately 639,739,190 times as much.

OMG, of course I'm not talking about a regular citizen living their life and all of. a sudden deciding that they should carjack someone.
No, these are people who have chosen a career in crime, and this is their lifestyle, and way of life.

I said a house not a Toronto house...driving around a vehicle worth a couple hundred K certainly makes you a target

With technology these days, Im surprised high end cars aren't easily trackable and have remote ways to disable them if stolen.
There really shouldn't be a market for stealing cars like this.
How hard would it be for Range Rover to insert a GPS tracker into every vehicle and send this data to police as soon as a theft happens like this?
I can watch my uber eats order bring me a burrito but police can't follow a stolen vehicle worth hundreds of thousands?

I think most cars are pretty easily trackable now. My 2022 M3 I could just open my app on my phone and see exactly where the car was at any time. Not sure how easy that would be for someone to disable, but it was super easy to track. I think if you paid to unlock the rest of the apps features you could start and stop it remotely as well.
I'd think it would be pretty easy to track down any sort of high end vehicle this way now, unless like I said it's easy to disable?
