Yeah, many of the bylaws specify face “coverings” so I guess that works. Well done, lady shopper, well done.

She's lucky she chose not to wear pants that day.

I yelled at an older guy in Safeway today, who was wandering around with his nose hanging out of his mask and crowding people. Felt good.

I totally see where they are coming from. Wearing a thong on your face makes you look so much cooler than wearing a simple mask.

For a ####ing trivia night? Idiots.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...d-19-1.5930516

B.C. must break chains of transmission, official says, as 300 COVID-19 cases linked to pub's 1 trivia night

A pub trivia night held earlier this month in Port Moody has now been connected to more than 300 cases of COVID-19, according to health officials.

A total of 24 people who attended the Feb. 2 event at the St. James's Well pub have had confirmed cases of COVID-19 as a result, according to the health ministry, and those cases have led to hundreds more in the community.

On Thursday, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said the spread has included transmission in a daycare, school, multiple workplaces and within families.

I mean, when pubs are open and the government fully admits they're relying on the honor system to keep people from mixing, it's not surprising at all that things like that happen. Based on the government inspection of the premises, they had plexiglass barriers, hand sanitizer, clearly posted rules, reduced capacity, and pretty much everything the rules require. Their main mistake was having an event that "draws people together", but I'm not sure how it's all that different in terms of risk than a dinner rush at a pub or restaurant in practice.

The fact is, bars and restaurants are risky places for superspreader events like that because you have dozens of people in one area not wearing masks all breathing the same air. And the whole thing rests on the idea that patrons will be honest when they tell the business that everyone at their table is from the same household.

I actually think the "same household" thing doesn't really matter except as a backdoor way to reduce capacity/demand.

When you have large groups in an enclosed space with no masks for an extended period, those are ideal conditions for spread. It sucks for everyone who wants things to get back to normal, and even more for those who work in the industry, but its just an intrinsically higher risk activity.

Its really hard to keep r < 1 when a single person gets r=24 in one evening out at the pub.

I ####ing love Joe Biden. He doesn't hold back. I guess that's what happens when you get old enough. You just don't GAF what people think about you, so you just speak your mind.

Imagine being worth 15 million, and treating people stuck in the daily grind like that? This is what guillotines were invented for.

Just did an informal poll here at work, ages 30 to 50.

Out of the 26 people I asked it's split right down the middle, 13 said they would take the vaccine today if offered and 13 said no.

5 of those were a hard no with me being trapped in a rant about conspiracy theories and other assorted bits of "research" they read on facebook.

This is worse than I thought.

It's weird. I've met a number of medical professionals who want nothing to do with the vaccine.
Just odd how many people are distrustful. especially with the AZ vaccine. look what's happening with that in Europe. it's a cluster####.

I haven't been following, what's the Cole's Notes version of the situation in Europe?

James Coates denied bail this morning. Good. The funny thing is he wouldn't see any jail time even if convicted under the PHA. He's only in jail now because he's refusing to abide by conditions.
