I think Rube is just taking umbrage with reposting Jack "I sneak 1488 references into my tweets for a laugh a few times a year" Posobiec in general, not the quoted tweet.
His anti-Semitic deleted tweet parade is pretty wild too

A good old fashioned book burning by Republican government officials.. though now they're saying they were just empty boxes and it was... burning books in effigy I guess cause they didn't want to buy the books in question.

Least surprising news ever.
Quote:
A judge ruled Tuesday that Donald Trump committed fraud for years while building the real estate empire that catapulted him to fame and the White House.
Judge Arthur Engoron, ruling in a civil lawsuit brought by New York’s attorney general, found that the former president and his company deceived banks, insurers and others by massively overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing financing.
Engoron ordered that some of Trump’s business licenses be rescinded as punishment, making it difficult or impossible for them to do business in New York, and said he would continue to have an independent monitor oversee the Trump Organization’s operations.
|
Quote:
Beyond mere bragging about his riches, Trump, his company and key executives repeatedly lied about them on his annual financial statements, reaping rewards such as favorable loan terms and lower insurance premiums, Engoron found.
Those tactics crossed a line and violated the law, the judge said, rejecting Trump’s contention that a disclaimer on the financial statements absolved him of any wrongdoing.

Gee, shocking news from 2016. This is the kind of thing that would have pretty much ruined his presidential bid, and the reason the public needs this kind of info before an election.

Calling Mexicans rapists and admitting to sexual assault on video didn’t hurt him, this wouldn’t have made a dent

Besides he'll be fundraising off this and making as much or more money than the Trump Org is currently making anyway.

Isn't part of the ruling that they have have to dissolve a number of Trump LLCs? Essentially the dissolution of the Trump Organization. That's huge no?

Yeah, people need to realize that what politicians say or do no longer matters in the USA. People will vote for you simply because you're on their side.

I'm sure it's a super PITA but I think they can just reform in a different jurisdiction (and probably already have).
I mean it'll be annoying for them to not be able to do business in NY and I guess in theory it might hurt their reputation, but I would assume almost everyone already knows their reputation.

n a 35-page decision, Judge Engoron also excoriated Trump and his lawyers for making nonsense arguments, so badly misquoting legal cases that they turned the law upside down, and other legal misconduct.
Five Trump lawyers were each fined $7,500 for making “frivolous” arguments.
A judge calling a lawyer’s argument “frivolous” is the equivalent of saying it is no better than nonsense from a drunk in a bar, as I teach my Syracuse University College of Law students.

LOL. Only the best lawyers. Great article summarizing the case.
Quote:
The principal issue to be decided at a trial scheduled to start Monday, Oct. 2, is how much Trump will be fined.
Trump also argued that since he paid his bank loans and insurance premiums on time no one was hurt. He argued against “restitution.”
The judge noted that the case is not about restitution but disgorging ill-got gains.
Here’s the analogy I will teach my students: Suppose your employer is closing for a day and when business is done you swipe $100 from the cash register, go to the racetrack, make a winning bet and before business resumes you put back $100.
You still committed a crime and if get caught you forfeit the track winnings as the proceeds of your ill-got gain — that’s disgorgement.
|
Haha, oh wow. So that could be pretty punishing.

Fuzz sums it up below. By dissolving the company they would have to dissolve the assets. I would think his New York empire as he knows it is gone. Looping in the kids and other partners would make it difficult to move the assets to someone else. Interesting none the less.

That’s why I like municipal politics. No parties (in Alberta, although we’re moving that way).
