The judges would have also accepted Marcus Giron.

So Beatriz Haddad Maia was forced to withdraw from the tourney in Guadalajara due to the shower in her hotel room exploding and cutting her quite badly. She had to go to hospital and received stitches in both hands.

Bring on the Fins! The other good news is that we avoid Djokovic and Serbia unless we meet in the finals.

I think the Finns have a pretty good doubles team ergo it would be prudent to win the singles matches. I guess the two questions are will Felix be available? (my guess is yes) and will Shapo's knee allow him to play? (answer: unknown).

It will be quite a bummer if it turns out I'm watching Arthur Fils play Ben Shelton in singles play at any point on those days.

Honestly at this point have Federer dress and play doubles. That instantly elevates the event, and not like doubles will be terrible difficult for him.

well...at least Fils is a potential future star. Still expecting that Mmoh/Giron doubles pair to show up at some point this weekend.

Leylah with a nice straight sets win over Elise Mertens 6-3 6-4. I think her WTA record in Mexico is something like 21-4.

One of the greatest moments in not only tennis history but sports history.
Also funny story about Riggs, he was a gambler and he bet on himself correctly to win Wimbledon singles, doubles and mixed doubles. In total he won the equivalent of what would be about $2 million dollars today.

Leylah into the quarter-finals in Guadalajara following a 6-2 6-3 win over Emma Navarro. Gets Sofia Kenin next who is playing great tennis as well, it should be a doozy.
