Aside from Cam Neely of course.

Depends what you mean. Best player every have been a Canuck? No.
Best player ever to have been a career Canuck (or even majority)? Maybe. But there's competition.

Fair deal. He's worth that and not jumping ship like all the Flames FA's. Vancouver is in a much better position than Calgary but hopefully we will get there.

I think they had the wiggle room and necessity to be a bit ruthless on this topic. Hronek, Joshua, Blueger, Cole, Myers, Lafferty, Zadorov, Friedman and now Lindholm. They need to know how hard and how many of these guys they have the room to re-sign and for how much. They couldn't even open discussions with them until they had an idea on what Pettersson was looking for.
Again, I don't think the Canucks were pushing for a deal to be signed today (though they're happy to do it), they just wanted to know what he was thinking.

I don't think anyone will ever be as just pure skilled as Bure. He was just on his own level.

Bure was who I was thinking of for best player to ever wear the ugly uniform.

I thought it was only Lou Lamoriello that made his players get haircuts.

These guys probably top out the list (no particular order):
Sedin 1
Sedin 2
Bure
Linden
Naslund
Luongo
Petterson
They had other players who were very good but didn't spend enough time there to be considered top Canuck career wise, nor did they have great years as a Canuck:
Messier
Sundin
Mogilny
Neely
If Petterson keeps it up at his current levels then I can see him being considered the top Canuck of all time.

It's 400k a season cheaper than I thought it'd take. Good for them.

Definitely a bit less than I would have thought he could get. Good deal for the Canucks. They needed to keep him. Still don't see them as an elite team long term though.

Seth Rogan just sold his Yaletown apartment last week; this contract came a few days too late.
Very good deal by the Canucks, I expected over $12.

On pure skill it's bure, I don't think Petey is that good, 60 goals during the dead puck era is just phenomenal
Career Petey could catch Henrik who I would say gets edge on best career over Daniel because of the awards, even though Daniel should have a Hart, Perry winning it over him is almost as bad as Iginla losing out on his

Longevity, yes, but I think the most iconic player for them has to be Bure. He really put them on the map.

Obviously in the minority, but not a huge fan of Pettersson (at $11.6M). Just think it's easy to get him off his game.

Bure was the first star player who was able to sell the game with his play (arguably he is the only star player that the Canucks have had). I think that the Sedins, Luongo, and Naslund were likely better players though. Bure until 1995 was great but after his knee injury he stopped being a 200 foot player and instead was an offensive threat who put up lots of goals on very unsuccessful teams.
As for this signing it is a good deal for the team given what similar players are signing for and the fact that they are almost all UFA years. If he was going to market I am sure that teams would be more than willing to pay him around 13-14 million per year or whatever the cap is going up by.

5th highest cap hit in the league...I don't think its a steal like some of you seem to
Is he going to get 100 points year in year out?
Seems like the going rate but I don't think he left much if anything on the table

Exactly.
If we're going by the 1mil for 10 points measure, he'll be hard pressed to be full value given that his career high is a hair above 100 and he's around that pace again. And his game doesn't involve other dimensions like some elite defensive forwards. He's a pure producer in a lot of ways.
BUT the Canucks need him. So from a Canucks standpoint that price tag is justified. I wouldn't be complaining at all if I were a nucks fan.
