Ah, right. I forgot that he and Trotz had run ins in the past. My apologies to neo.

I had to stop and think if I had the timeline right and Trotz was still there! Pardon my stealth edit.

Hockey Central at Noon pimping a Calgary defenceman for Howard. I cringe every time Howard is suggested even if it means getting rid of the Wideman contract.

Agreed. Howard has always been a bit over-rated IMO. But that fact that Mrazek has taken over the #1 job in Detroit so easily, makes me uncomfortable bringing on Howard as well. Even if it means being able to dump Wideman.

Would rather let Wideman walk next year than carry Howard at $5.2mil over 3 more years.

I think the Wings need to take Wideman and eat at least a million per on Howard

With Datsuyk's contract still on the books for next season, Mrazek needed an extension/raise and a number of UFAs to potentially re-sign(Richards, Helm, Quincey, Miller), I don't see them taking on extra salary at the draft.

Besides, I wouldn't touch Howard with a barge pole. He looked garbage in the play offs and wasn't much better in the regular season. Steer well clear of that one.

I don't even want Howard with salary retained. He would be a stop gap, low-quality starting goaltender on contract for the next 3 seasons. he's not the goalie that makes the Flames a contender. He's 32 years old, no upside.

So when we actually do find a capable starter, Howard would still be there, taking up cap space. Just not a piece we need.

If Howard is the only goalie available via the trade route, I'd rather just suck it up and sign Reimer for 2 years than to have Howard anywhere near the team. Guy is garbage, and will just be Hiller 2.0 in that we'll all be wishing he'd be gone from the team in a year.

I'd honestly be fine with bringing Wideman back, trying to trade him for another bad contract is a panic move. He won't be as bad as he was last year and he's an expiring contract that the Flames could flip at the dealine next year.

Yeah I want a young hungry tender like Vas (TB), Pickard (Col), Murray (Pit), Allen (Stl), Gibson (Ana), Raanta (Nyr), Greiss (Nyi not young but hungry), Neuvirth (Phi), Ullmark (Buf), Korpisalo (Cbj).

Half of them might not be available but hopefully Treiliving looks at these guys.

I really wanted them to take a look at Neuvirth instead of Ramo last year - too bad they didn't get him signed up for cheap then.

All prospects and all picks after Flames 1st.

Pieces like Janko, Gillies, Poirier, Dal 1st/2nd etc would be available.

The Stars' pick being upgraded to a 1st could give the Flames' the exact type of extra ammo they need to upgrade goaltending, with something more than a stop-gap. Come on Dallas!

Some are suggesting Dallas' first if that happens but I'd rather Las Vegas gets awarded a franchise starting in 2017, so it will be a buyers market.

Have we officially signed Daniel Pribyl yet?

I just saw that the "rumor" thread was closed.

When I think of Howard I get the feeling he would end up Joey MacDonald V2 for the Flames.

Bennett, Monahan, Gaudreau, Frolik, Backlund, Brodie, Gio, Hamilton, Gillies, any 1st round picks. Those are the only things off the table for me.

Anything else is fair game. Yes, that includes roster players like Colborne, Bouma, Jokipakka, plus prospects like Mangiapane, Kylington, Andersson, Shinkaruk etc. Oh and any draft picks in the 2nd to later rounds obviously.

I realise there isn't a great deal of value in whats left, but thats all I'd be willing to give up. Saying that though, if Frolik and a mid round pick gets it done, I'd be tempted, same with Backlund. Yes, you punch a hole in your roster, but it fills a big need long term potentially and 2nd-3rd line centres/wingers can be had in free agency. Young promising goaltenders can't.

Not yet. From Roger today:

Roger Millions ‏@RogMillions11m11 minutes agoCalgary, Alberta

Czech Daniel Pribyl requires knee surgery after his playoff season ended. #Flames remain interested in signing. Will not play at Worlds.

Roger Millions ‏@RogMillions9m9 minutes agoCalgary, Alberta

#Flames GM Brad Treliving likens Pribyl to what he calls "a young Robert Lang" .. Adds if signed may require time at AHL Stockton
