So what about the leaks makes you less excited about battlefield? The near-future setting? Larger player lobbies? 5 screen shots? I'm interested in possibly hearing what I missed?
The 'hero' mechanic from Battlefront making its way to Battlefield (supposedly) is mostly what I meant. But yeah the near-future setting is very disappointing as well.
All EA needs to do to make a perfect Battlefield game is a re-imagining of Battlefield 2 in Frostbite 4 with bigger maps and more players. Basically just look at a game like Squad, ditch the logistics part of it, put it in Frostbite, and it would be a near-perfect game.

Battlefield 1 had something similar in the kits that dropped mid-game which were always fun to both play as and kill, all while not taking away from the games excitement.
I give Dice some leeway when it comes to the near-future setting, it isn't going to be like COD: Infinite Warfare.....I hope lol.

I have high hopes but they certainly squashed any leeway with everything they've done in the last 9 years

You weren't a fan of BF4 or 1? those were excellent games albeit after launch in most cases, BFV was not as good as the previous but I still had a lot of fun with it...far more fun than I have had with any COD game in the last 10 years.

BF4 was decent but a step back from 3, everything after that has been waaaaay too fast paced. Everything from movement speed to reload speed to vehicle speed was at least 20% faster than it should be, just felt weird and COD-ish
I'd rank them
-Battlefield 1942
-Battlefield 2
-Battlefield 3
-Battlefield Vietnam
-Battlefield Bad Company 2
-Battlefield 4
-Battlefield 2142
-Battlefield Bad Company
-Massive gap
-The garbage they've put out from 2015 to present day

I don’t get the dislike for BFV by some. Maybe it’s my soft spot for WW2, but despite the hiccups it’s had at times throughout its lifespan, V introduces some great mechanics to the Battlefield franchise. The squad/revive mechanics, attrition with health and ammo, tanks not having unlimited ammo, crouch running/improved movement, etc. Given some of the above it puzzles me that you find the newer titles to be too “fast paced” relative to the old games. BFV’s beta played so ploddingly and gave you so little ammunition/health that there was an outcry that triggered tweaks by Dice, but the final product still plays less arcadey than some others in the series if you ask me.
I’ve loved both BF1 and BFV. BF1’s gameplay was a bit nuttier, but the atmosphere and aesthetics were amazing. BFV made some great adjustments to gameplay, but faltered with some of the look and feel categories (it took them ages to release authentic uniforms for your soldiers. The purchasable heros are goofy, etc.).
In any case, I’m stoked for the reveal.

9/ 10 for Ratchet. Glad to see that a pre-order will pay off. Looking forward to playing it.
It looks great! should play beautifully on any 4k 60 tv, but I am profoundly disappointed to hear that it took Jonathan just 16 hours to complete the story and ~90% of all content. At $90 dollars that is very underwhelming. It looks like Sony's PS5 exclusives run heavy with visual upgrades and light in length of story. With this said I am happy I ordered a physical copy, I can beat it in about a week (probably less), play some challenge mode and then get as much $ back from EB Games as I can.
Haven't really played the series in the past much. But the image quality and extra details are pretty crazy here, the spent shell casings or the little bugs even.

Looks fun!
I agree I think the price point is a touch high for the amount of hours.
In saying that, I do appreciate a game that isn't Assassins Creed: Odyssey hours. I am having less and less time to play really big games, so a nice 40-50 hour game would be nice. Its too bad that Ratchet doesnt clock around that.
Also, it looks like Canada may finally be a country included in the Battles. The character they follow in the sea cans @around 1:16 with the yellow band around his arm that gets stabbed is 100% a Canadian soldier lol.

Yeah, that is pretty crazy nearly $100 after taxes for 16-20 hours. Disappointing.
