Wanted to have the topic up without a vote so people could put up Lanny stories, or whatever on a Covid Sunday.
I'll post #10 as well today.
There are other numbers that aren't close enough to vote either, for sure, but McDonald literally was the 2nd guy to wear the number in Calgary and then of course had it retired.
Not much point in running Lanny against Dennis Cyr for a day.

Lanny was and continues to be a pillar in what being a Calgary Flame is. Just a fantastic player when he played and now the icon in the organization that does so much for the community.
Lanny is the face of the Calgary Flames the greatest captain the organization has ever had. I remember close to the trade deadline in 1988 I think, when the Flames traded a minor league player named Lane McDonald to another team. Ed Whalen went on TV during the sports hour on channels 2 and 7 to say Lanny had not be traded and to stop calling in to the station.

So many things happened early in Calgary, and it made you think that they would happen every season.

Third round in the playoffs in year one
Need a star? Here's Lanny McDonald!
And his 66 goal season was amazing, we've literally seen nothing like it since. 50 goals is a lot, but 66 just felt like every game a puck was going in.
