I don’t know but I’m sticking to it to try and get through this news.
Laughed at his joke through tears. Hilarious Bob, just hilarious.

I am kind of indifferent on this trade.
Neal was horrid.
Lucic costs less and hits more.
Both are not very good.
I'll take the less expensive lousy player than the more expensive one.
I think Neal will bounce back if he's put on the first line. Might be a decent trade in terms of it will make the Oilers better, but not by enough for them to make the playoffs. Worse pick for them = longer in mediocrity.

Don't like it. But that last game benching of Neal pretty much sealed the deal. He wasn't happy.

Then why do they play it?

I can't be bothered losing my mind over something we don't have all the details on. I do know that Smith and Neal are close buddies. Once the trade call is complete, then I reserve the right to scream my head off. ☺

I don't hate the trade in theory, but it depends on a couple unknowns. The possible conditional pick, and his NMC in particular.
Neal was completely embarrassing last year. But definitely has more potential for a bounceback, though I don't see the effort improving.
At least Lucic addresses our embarassing lack of a backbone, something the players and management identified as a clear issue. But he's terrible otherwise.

His signing bonus for this season was $3 million, and apparently was paid earlier this week.
He is still owed $3 million in salary for this season plus he gets $4M, $5M, and $4M for the final three years of the deal (in combined bonuses and salary), which will all be paid by the Flames (except for the retained percentage).
If the Flames keep him for the rest of the contract, he'll be paid $16 million in real dollars against a total cap hit of $24 million (minus whatever percentage the Oilers retain).
Neal is set to be paid $23 million over the next four seasons with the same total cap hit.

Initial reaction was WTF?
But...
Lucic @ $5,400,000 cap hit and no NMC
vs.
Neal @ $6,350,000
Doesn't bother me all that much I guess.
Same term and age basically.

Lucic can't skate. No matter how bad Neal was, a battle-scarred 30+ winger with bad skating isn't the answer in today's NHL.
If you need me, I'll be crying in the corner.
