Stockton Heat moving to Calgary
Any further information on this? I wonder if they play at the Dome - would be crowded in there I would imagine - but I'm sure that's what they are planning - any confirmation of that? Any other possibilities? Stockton Arena hold 10,000. Pretty sure we don't have anything that's half the Dome's capacity. Max Bell is 2,000. David Bauer is 1,750. Not sure about WinSports NHL-sized arenas. The Olympic sized one is 3,000.

Was digging some more - 7 Chiefs Sportsplex on the Tsuut’ina Nation might be the best fit. The facility is new and modern, it seats 2,000 for hockey. I think the Hitmen have played there a bit? Am I missing anything outside the Calgary core - but adjacent?

As the farm team for the club, I think it makes the most sense for them to be at the dome and share facilities, equipment, staff, etc. for the Flames, especially as it will probably be all unified branding now except for the logo. I'd definitely go to Heat games as the Flames are so expensive now.
The Hitmen can move to 7 Chiefs!

Or maybe the Roughnecks move to 7 Chiefs actually...

The Heat will be playing at the Saddledome.

Winsport's big arena is 3900. Max Bell is 3000.
Winsport's ice size was made into NHL size in 2021. I think they were converting back again this year, but they now claim it's adjustable back and forth.

Yep - makes sense. I also think the other thing that makes sense is to move the Roughnecks. But maybe they make it work with 4 teams being tenants. Perhaps this speeds up the new Event Centre - who knows?

I think the obvious answer is to build a facility for them in Balzac and call them the Balzac Heat.

Interesting to see how it will all shake out. Of their 4 teams, I suspect the Heat will draw the lowest attendance.

New Horizon Mall ain't doing much.
Seriously there's a ton going on out there now though. I'd have liked to see a woman's league team out there - there's little in the way of competition.

Really? I’d much rather go to an AHL game than a WHL game.

The Roughnecks draw a whole lot more per game than the Hitmen, and there are less events to have conflicts with. If there is an odd team out, it's the Hitmen, who (as speculated on in the Stockton forum), would be most likely to go to 7 Chiefs over another venue in town.

Yeah, but "per game" is doing a lot of work there. There are what - 9 home games? Compared to 36 for the Hitmen (not counting POs). Roughnecks averaged 13K the last non-Covid season whereas Hitmen are in the 7-8K range normally but overall revenue for Hitmen is still way higher. But it's a short season Dec - June. Squeezing 8-9 games into that slot isn't impossible.
Neither team would fit into the 2K seat 7 Chiefs or any other venue very easily.

It wouldn't shock me to see the Hitmen play at a number of venues around the City. They would likely get last priority at the Saddledome vs. the Heat or the Roughnecks, so will need to take some games elsewhere.
No reason to move the Roughnecks anywhere, they draw quite well.

I'm not suggesting moving the Rouchnecks. I'm saying the Hitmen likely make more money. And that, with so few games, it's not too hard to avoid a conflict. Just a matter of working road trips against each other.
