Default Cineplex postponing showing The Interview

Quote:
Cineplex says it will “postpone” showing “The Interview” in Canada amid hackers’ threats of terrorist attacks in theatres that are showing the movie.
“After careful consideration of this unprecedented and complex situation, Cineplex Entertainment … will postpone presentation of the Sony Pictures movie, The Interview, ”the country’s largest theatre chain said in a statement Wednesday.

Good riddance, even I was offended by how horrible that movie looked (and I am usually a fan of Franco and Rogen).

Edit: Actually that second trailer looks better then the first, but still not that surprised by this.

I feel like all this is going to accomplish is to get more people to see it. Likely illegally.

I actually thought it looks hilarious and am definitely going to check it out.

It's funny because this looks like a pretty bad movie and it probably would have been a dud at the box office. Now people are going to seek it out just to say FU North Korea. Still Kim Jong Il clearly has a better sense of humour than junior because nothing like this happened for Team America.

I don't get it. Do we all die via terrorism if we buy the Blue Ray version?

This was always going to be a contentious film, I'd be more surprised if they didnt expect this.

Yeah, wouldn't Team America have been way much more offensive? They don't even just kill off Kim Jong-Il, they pretty much make fun of the entire nation.

Oh come on sureLoss, this isn't even hockey news!

On another note if I'm Sony I leverage the hype (and gain some goodwill with the public) by tossing The Interview up on bit torrent for free. Even include a title slide about censorship and book burning just to drive the point home.

Sure it's a loss for them, but still get's the flick out there and make a bit of a statement.

Probably best for everyone. The last thing this world needs is another Rogen/Franco love-fest.

wonder if franco and rogen had a deal to get a cut of the box office receipts.

anwyas, i guess i'll now have to spend christmas with the family instead of watching this movie - at least the movie theatre employees will now be able to stay at home on christmas day

i'd further assume that this will scuttle plans for the Interview 2........

Oh no. As I understand its going to be a cross-over between Hot Tub Time Machine and Interview where they go back in time and Seth Rogen drowns Hitler and Stalin in a poorly maintained hot tub.

Okay Hollywood, give me my money.

Just because they cancelled the release now doesn't mean it will never be released. When it does get released, this will only help it generate more interest.

We need to use these hackers to block more movies from getting released. Like anything involving Tyler Perry would be a start.
