Default Marco Polo - Netflix - released Dec 12

Has anyone watched this series? Apparently a mere 90 million was spent on this series. 10 episodes. I had yesterday off work and just finished binge watching all 10 episodes in two days. Highly recommend it. Similar to Game of Thrones in someways. Battle scenes not quite as extensive but still very solid.

Forgot it was coming out already, was looking for something to watch last night on netflix and it didn't come up anywhere, which is really odd, you would think it would be plastered all over the place the day it's released. I'm going to start it watching tonight.

Oh, I just watched the trailer, had no idea that it was out yesterday. I'll watch this, even though the trailer made me think it looked a little cheesy.

Trailer was tacky. Reviews haven't looked good. I really liked it though.

I've watched the first three episodes.

The show looks great, with high production values, but IMO the writing is a let down and there's not a single interesting character, including Marco.

I'll keep watching for now in hopes that it gets better, but so far I wouldn't recommend it .

Am I a horrible person because after watching 2 episodes, everyone (other than Marco) looks the same?
Edit: Seriously. I can't follow the girls. Are there 3 of them? The wife, the sister, the girlfriend? And the 2 guys that fought each other in the gulley were brothers? And who is the Chinese Brad Pitt wanna-be? What's his role?

I watched the series and really enjoyed it, not sure why reviews have been so negative. Protip: Turn the subtitles on. I found it easier to keep track of who's who and sometimes the dialogue is hard to hear.

I've watched 9 now, it starts ok but really impresses as it moves a long.

Highly recommend you guys stick it out past the first 2-3, its excellent stuff after that.

I'm really enjoying it so far. I especially like the copious amounts of female nudity.

My wife is having the exact same trouble and I don't find it easy, either. One of them should get a bob haircut, one of them should be overweight and the one who is always DTF (the sister) could stay the same. As it stands, they cast three identical looking women.

It's a good buildup since the final episodes have pretty good payoff.

I couldn't get past the 4th episode. It's boring.

I finally got around to watching this and it's an excellent show. If you enjoy historical dramas, this is right down your alley.

it's a pretty good show, reminds me of Rome, the HBO show but Rome is a little better than this one.

Good idea however to the poster above who suggested using subtitles, my wife and I are finding the dialogue difficult to hear / understand at times and following along. And yeah, the women do look very similar, they get a bit confusing as to who's who and we started guessing certain people were spies when they were actually different people, etc.

Solid show though.

I also quite enjoyed it. I never had a a problem with the pacing, but my girlfriend found it a little slow at times. And I agree - subtitles make a positive difference.

So question to all those who watched this show. As it is regarding a plot line, I used spoiler tags:

Spoiler!

Also, LOVE the blind monk kung fu scenes.

Getting to the last 3 or 4 episodes are worth it.

Also Netflix is a troll. I didn't read properly and when I began episode 10 I thought I had 4 more... but they are trailers.

Thank you!

Watching this show makes me think that the British are trying to take over the world through dialect placement.

Lorenzo Richelmy (Marco Polo) - is Italian.
Benedict Wong (Kublai Khan) is British.
Remy Hii Prince Jingim aka "Eye Brows" is Australian.
Tom Wu (Hundred Eyes) was born is Hong Kong but raised in Britain.
Mahesh Jadu (Ahmad) being brown you'd say he's from... England, but he's actually from Australia.
Uli Latukefu (Byamba) Australia.
Chin Han (Chancellor Jia Sidao) is from The Dark Night Rises and Hong Kong.
Amr Waked (Yusuf) is actually from the Middle East (Egypt)!

I'm a big fan of historic TV shows. I had no problem telling the characters apart except for the Chancollor's sister Mei Lin: when she went to the Mongol pleasure palace, I didn't recognize her right away. A side note about Mei Lin (Olivia Cheng), she's from Edmonton
Spoiler!

The series cost 90 million to produce... I don't know how Netflix and Weinstien can recoup that kind of cost along with it's other shows. It's a larger budget than Game of Thrones.

I was surfing Netflix and found the movie Mongols. It's a foreign film, complete with subtitles, but it is a very well done depiction on the rise of Genghis Khan.

Its not an much of an action movie, but it is a very interesting story.
