I have a friend with a home-schooled special needs kid that took to music production like a duck to water. Kid's eight, so any computer will do. I have all the other bits around to get him going (audio interface, headphones, midi keyboard). Single mom, and although she works full time (tattoo artist at one of the largest studios in Calgary, in case anyone might be considering some work) I think given the special needs of the kid that before investing money into something I'd like to see if the music thing sticks for him.

Once upon a time I didn't have a problem finding computers, but alas that was some time ago. I'd be happy to work a trade or pay some cash or a combo thereof, but really this is the classic trying to keep the costs down on a try for something for a friend's kid. It would be cool if it stuck, because I think it would do someone like him a lot of good.

Any idea of what you'll need to run the software? I have an Intel 3770k based computer that's about 10 years old that I could give you for free if it's good enough.
