About time. He's done more then his fairshare of work with the Flames players, especially Poirier recently.

What a beauty. With KK doing a lot of dumb things over the years, it's nice to see other managers within the group are smart enough to retain guys like Conny and McGrattan who are universally loved.

Many people here thought this was coming at some point and now it has. Such an excellent guy to have in the mix!

Bring personable or loved doesn't necessarily make a great contributor though. See coach Gretzky. I'd take an unlikable prick if he was the better choice than someone nice but less competent.

We have already heard that he is quite good in certain roles. See Porier recently, Monohan in his first year, etc.

This is amazing news. It's obvious the players he's played with really respect him and he has done so much for the Flames in such a short time.

No need for Jarome or Jagr, we have our preferred RW for the season. We're good.

Couldn't be happier for him and so happy it is a position with the flames.
It is nice seeing some of these guys finding office positions within the sport they love who literally put their future on the line each game.

You're right.
But Grats isn't coming in as the GM or head coach. He's coming in as a support role, and it's well recorded that he's helped many a young player develop, so he's actually good in that role. Him being lovable in the wider community warms fans up to the club when characters like KK are alienating them.
I'd be willing to be that Conny has been a great liaison for players. It's probably a lot easier to approach Conny with a professional or personal issue than it is to approach the big boss.

Great move for the Flames and McGrattan. He's the kind of guy both the NHL and NHLPA should have been all over for league wide player assistance programs.

Love this as well.
Ern is a great role model, and a credible threat if you eff up too much!
Guys who have fought for everything they earned, and have been through it all are fantastic in this role. Chris Nilan comes to mind as another warrior who has done great things for young players in certain situations.
Outstanding hire
