It's like these two teams don't what to do now.
There are no attacking options.

Interesting medical treatment for a player who looks to have a concussion. Roll him over and shake his legs, spray water on him, slap him a bunch of times.

Yeah, who knew that flipping a guy on his side and shaking his legs would help the 'ol noodle get over a concussion. Or maybe it was the slapping, or being sprayed with water, or being held up by someone to get the blood flow to the legs.
That was bloody shameful.

Game has slowed to a halt. Gonna be a lot of injury time.

You'd think one of these teams would go for broke now, neither is likely to advance even if they win, but there's a -1000% chance if they draw, so might as well give it a rip.

I'm not sure they have the skills or the legs to go for broke.

I came to ask what happened because I cant watch and....wow.
In fairness....it is Russia. Lets not forget they dragged a hockey player who was having a heart attack into the parking lot on a tarp.
Oh Russia....what a country.

But hey two winners after 89 minutes isn't too bad a day, even if both matches were pretty bleh. Hopefully Spain and Portugal bring the quality.

Not Russia. It was the Moroccan physio.

Even better. Remember when they wanted to host the World Cup?

At least he doesn't have to go back to Morocco and take abuse because he's actually raised and lived in Germany his whole life and just has the heritage to play for Morocco. That moment would be devastating, always feel for the own goal guys at the world cup.

I don't get the sneering. It's not like you can treat a concussion on the field. The physio (or whatnot) physically wrestled a player trying to force himself back to the field after an obvious concussion and demanded a substitution when the player was yelling he wanted on the field. Kudos to him IMO.

So are we fully expecting Spain & Portugal to lollygag for 90 minutes and draw 1-1?

This is the best match of the group stage on paper, would be very disappointing if it was crap.

So if you went by the 2018 qualifiers, the next four best teams were:
Qatar (98th world ranking)
Uzbekistan (95)
Iran (37)
United Arab Emirates (77)
By comparison, Saudi Arabia is currently ranked 67.

Oops I swapped Iran and Syria (ranked 73) for some reason. Makes my argument stronger though!

The best match at this stage is often some desperation game between two mid-tier teams. Then again losing this match means you have no margin of error so Mmost likely both teams will go for it, at least to start the game. early. If the game is tied late they'll probably let it end in a tie.
