No. Prime Rocket without the benefit of today's training or equipment barely will score 5 goals.
That's why I'm saying the argument across eras is silly. Dryden as-is an unaltered in his prime would get lit up in today's NHL. Dryden with today's equipment and training is not Dryden anymore, it's someone/something else and so the argument just becomes silly.

Are you saying Prime Maurice Richard only gets 5 goals today? What are you smoking and can I have some?

He’s probably right. The talent pool then was absolutely tiny comparatively speaking, so It’s pretty likely compared to today’s NHLers he wouldn’t be that great. It doesn’t really matter though, it’s all relative.
And if we’re factoring equipment and training, he wouldn’t even make todays NHL.

I haven't voted because to me it's really hard to pick Roy over Hasek and vice versa. They were both so dominant. If I had to pick a goaltender to win a game in the playoffs Roy would be the guy but Hasek in regular season would be the guy.

Tretiak or Dryden IMO. Darkhorse be Parent. What they did in the era of tiny equipment was amazing.

If you took prime Rocket and plopped him into the 2022 NHL, he would be by far the slowest skater with the weakest shot.
I'm not smoking anything. Fact is that guys from back then are 1/100th of today's elite athlete.

These arguments are just so silly. If he were playing today, he would have the same training and equipment that today's players have, he wouldn't be out there in 5LB 1935 skates and an old piece of lumber
The guy was supremely talented, and would be very talented today. Are there more good players today than back then? Of course. But he would still be one of them

I agree the argument is silly. It doesn't make sense to compare across eras because who decides what the parameters are?
If Rocket was bored in 1989, would be be a great player in today's NHL? Who knows, but the Rocket was born in the 20s. What if he had todays training, but not today's equipment. Or if he had today's equipment and medical access, but not the modern nutrition. If if if. If he had wings he could fly.
The only argument that makes any bit of sense (if you squint) is if you take prime old time player and plop him into today's game, unaltered, with no 'ifs'. But even that is fruitless.

Sawchuk and Hall , IMO, have to be given consideration. Their athleticism was incredible.

Glenn Hall was a terrible teammate. Didn’t let his backup play for 8 years.

No, that argument makes no sense and you know what the outcome would be. In my opinion the approach that makes the most sense is to compare a player’s performance relative to their peers at the time. Richard was a clear standout in the six team league. Compare how dominant he was to how dominant the top modern players are and now you have a basis to argue rankings.

Pat Steinbag, is that you? Seems exactly like something Patty would trot out to appease all fans.
For me it's a tough one as well, but Hasek. Almost the entirety of his gaudy numbers and individual achievements were done on a far inferior team/franchise to the other two goalies.

Ken Dryden for me with a special mention to Hasek.
