Sounds like you've made up your mind.
I have a PS3 for the following reasons:
1. Its my bluray player.
2. I'm not a halo fan.
3. Gran Turismo (though forza 3 is also very good.)
4. At the time I purchased my PS3, 360's had MAJOR reliability issues which have since been resolved with the new unit.
5. It all came down to personal preference.
Honesly, it sounds like the 360 might be the right choice for you and don't let some fanboy convince you otherwise. My brother has one and likes it, but both systems have their own pro's and con's.

If you like Gran Turismo, you'll love Forza 3.
Verdict: Xbox.

I don't think I have made up my mind, I might be leaning slightly toward the Xbox, but I honestly don't know enough about either yet to make a firm stance.

One thing that seems like a pretty big advantage for PS3 is the fact that you don't have to pay for online multiplayer gaming like you do with Xbox. I think it's something like $50 a year, which adds up if you have the system over a few years.

PS3, it's just better....and it doesn't say Microsoft on the outside so it actually works.
j/k, your call. although the free online gaming, blu ray and GT franchise is what pushed me over the edge.

Pretty much all the kickers for the PS3 you already have in another device.

The 360 has Plants vs Zombies and Super Meat Boy, the PS3 doesn't. Advantage - 360.

Get what your friends have. I'd say the ps3 is better for sports games if that's your thing. Graphics are usually better on 360 for multiplatform games. Both have good exclusive games.

I'm a Playstation user and I'd be torn if I already had an Apple TV and Blu Ray.

I have a ps3- mainly chose it because it has a blu-ray as well as the gaming capabilities. If you have two HDTVs then maybe you'd be more likely to chose ps3 so you can watch blu-ray on either TV, but if you have only one, then that's out.
As others have said- it comes down to preference. Which controller do you like, which menus do you like, and if there is that ONE GAME you can't live without, then go for it.
At the same time, as a ps3 guy, if I want to play Halo I'll go to my friend's place.

I dunno if things have changed, but the original 360 didn't have built in wireless capability. Adding it is another cost you have to tack on, unless you'll be running an ethernet cable to your system.

The 360 Elite is everything the original console should have been. Built in Wifi, HDMI, bigger HDD.

I will say this though, my roommate has a 360 and I have a PS3. Since I moved in a year and a half ago he's barely touched his console and has used mine more than I.
However that might be because he's too cheap to buy games and I'm not. But I digress.

that's mainly why i went ps3. also if you do any computer gaming there is a nice program you can install that basically lets you game using the ps3 controller on the pc. more work than a 360 wired controller but i love being able to use my ps3 controller for both

For me the PS3 has much better exclusives. Infamous, Uncharted, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Valkyrie Chronicles are all games off the top of my head that I'd rather play over any 360 exclusive. PSN has some gems on it as well (PixelJunk games, Flower, Shatter) that are well worth it. In all honestly, I've only touched my 360 a few times since getting a PS3 (only to play Rockband since I had the instruments for it)
