Interesting bit about how the stores will all feature that Microsoft Surface thing. I'll be going to one just to check that out. I've always wondered about how it would work in a real-world scenario.

The phones and the plans sure aren't blowing me away. Hard to justify paying $35 for unlimited internet when I already pay $40 for internet at home.

I don't think using your home internet is a fair comparison to mobile data plans, simply because your home internet's infrastructure differs quite a bit from how mobile wireless infrastrutures are setup. I view them as 2 different things.

But between carriers, I would say, if the pricing is true, Wind has the lowest rate compared to the big 3.

Rogers blackberry data plan $80 for 5 gigs (not unlimited)
Rogers mobile high-speed $85 for 5 gigs
Rogers Smartphone data plan $80 for 5 gigs

Telus smartphone plan (including limited voice and text), data plan is only 3 gigs (again, not unlimited) for $100

Bell's plans are pretty crappy too. Again the limit is 3gigs...even for the $100 plan (including all sorts of stuff like voice and text).

Doesn't everyone on Rogers and Fido have the $30 for 6 gig plan?

I am not on Rogers, but I thought that was the iPhone release promotion data plan rate?

Check out this line from one of the posted articles:

Coles said the government's decision threatens Canadian jobs but also goes against Canadians' desire to have their telecommunications and broadcast industry owned locally.
Thanks so much for speaking on my behalf! You're right! All I care about is people not losing their jobs and that the company is Canadian owned! I could care less how much it costs.

I hate union spokespeople with every inch of my being. I want to pull this guys eyes out for saying something so incredibly ridiculous.

What network are they running on exactly?

CDMA? GSM? HSPA?

I've read they roam onto Rogers when outside their own service area so GSM/HSPA I would guess.

Not sure where you are getting your prices from but on Bell I pay $70/Month for Unlimited data and 500 minutes daytime, unlimited evenings and weekend plus free nationwide calling to 5 numbers.

On Wind its $35 for a similar voice and $35 for unlimited data. The prices looking very similar.

Hows your job at wind mobile going anyway?

Here's the closest thing to what you have that they current offer:

Quote:
Smartphone Combo BlackBerry 65 – Fab Five

300 local minutes plus 50 bonus local minutes
Nationwide Fab Five: Unlimited calling & text
1 GB data for personal email, Internet browsing & instant messaging
Unlimited nights & weekends (9 p.m. - 7 a.m.) local calling

And that doesn't include Voicemail, CID, Call-waiting, SAF.

So, in short, you've either got a retention plan or you're bending the truth.

Wind Mobile is going to without doubt change the landscape of wireless telecomm in this country.

I can't wait to call Rogers tomorrow and argue my bill down. Goodbye SAF.

S h a r e B B e r r y 7 0 F a b 5 - 3 6 M -$70

Thats the name of my plan, after looking my bill up online its only 400 min not 500.

U n l E m a i l & I n t e r n e t B b e r r y
F a b F i v e - c a l l i n g a n d t e x t
3 Way Calling

Call Waiting
U n l i m i t e d P i c t u r e _ V i d e o B u n d l e
M e m b e r t o M e m b e r L o c a l C a l l i n g
U n l i m i t e d N H L B u n d l e
T x t M s g - U n l t d P k g .

Sorry for how bad it looks it was copy and pasted right from my bill. Of course they are going to come in a bit lower, they need to get their foot in the market. But when its this close and they have not proved themselves why would anyone switch?

P.S: Thats not a retention plan it was my first bell phone

PPS: Is wind not charging S.A F?

I went to the bell site and looked up their highest plan that includes everything. That's all I did.

http://www.bell.ca/shopping/PrsShpWl...=DataRatePlans

This is what I saw, so I based it on this:
Smartphone Combo BlackBerry 100 – Fab Five
  • 500 local minutes
  • Nationwide Fab Five: Unlimited calling & text
  • 2 GB data
  • Unlimited text, picture & video messaging
  • Call Display
  • Message Centre
  • Unlimited nights & weekends (9 p.m. - 7 a.m.) local calling
  • Unlimited NHLTM
Based on Winds rumor thread, $35 isn't limited to 500 local calling minutes like your plan. So isn't that still better than your plan?

Also, why is it that if I like a particular carrier, I work for them? I don't get it.

And that's is why I'm asking everyone. I don't think there is any question here that they have yet to prove themselves, but so far things look promising.

I'm not telling people that they HAVE to switch. All the information I have included in this thread are information I have found from carrier sites and rumor sites. I just happen to like their rumored plans because it seems better than the other carriers.

Exactly. I could give a crap personally. I want more competitive prices and better bang for my buck. These guys are NOT speaking for me. I am sick of this protectionism at our expense.
