It is good it is happening early in the season, get it over and done with now while they are fresh. It would suck if that was how a team finished the season.

Hopefully the saving grace with a trip like that, aside the Flames playing great hockey so far, is 5 of the teams on that 9 game sched are teams you'd kind of expect to miss the playoffs this season. While pretty much no teams are "easy outs" in today's NHL, SJS, MTL, OTT, BUF and CHI are all very far from being considered legit contenders.

Personally, the way the Flames are playing I'd be disappointed if they don't win 5 of 9 at a minimum. Hopefully more though.

Get this road trip out of the way while they’re still fresh and earn some much needed rest later in the season.

They say that the standings by the time of American Thanksgiving is a pretty good indication of who will be in/out of the playoffs by season's end, barring a couple surprises.

This road trip basically takes the Flames to that point in the season.

Any other year a killer schedule like this would have seen them buried for certain and we'd be talking about the draft for the rest of the year.

But they've given themselves enough of a cushion so far that even a disastrous road trip now wouldn't put them behind the eight-ball.

was hoping to do the Montreal trip in addition to the Toronto game but can't and still debating the Ottawa game.

the Friday game is HUGE for us Toronto based fans!

It's nice they had that week off at the start of October so they were able to squeeze this in now.

Interestingly enough, despite this upcoming stretch and depending on which site you check, the Flames have either the 2nd or 3rd easiest schedule remaining. Those rankings are based of the current records of each team they have ahead of them, so it can and will change, but just some good news on to counteract what looks like a really tough stretch ahead.

The Oilers have three 5-game trips, the first starting tomorrow (9-16 Nov; 23 Feb-3 Mar; 3-14 Apr). They have one 8-game trip, but it occurs over the Christmas break, so it is more actually a two-day 2-game trip before Christmas, and then a ten-day 6-game trip.
