Maybe hard feelings regarding deployment with past coaches...doubt he would complain about Darryl.

He was stapled to the bench because he wasn't very good...Sutter told him what to work on in the summer and to his credit it seems like he worked on it.

Getting to play with a steady veteran like Tanev is 100% helping out here. Tanev did wonders allowing Quinn Hughes to roam around. Kylington is not Hughes, but having a steady partner like Tanev allows him to be able to play to his strengths, and if he does make an error Tanev can help diffuse it better.
As others state OK does have a skillset that compliments Tanev very well. Few guys playing defence can get up and down the ice like Kylington can. Hopefully he continues to grow as the season progresses, the early returns are very promising.

I don’t get the sentiment that he might not re-sign over past “treatment” from the team. Hopefully he’s mature enough to recognize that that his play wasn’t consistently good enough to have earned a regular spot. It is now, and his focus should be on proving he can be an impact player and that the Flames were right to invest so much time in his development.

I'd look at giving Kylington a four-year extension at a dollar figure in the $2.5 - 3 million range.

I love this kid, I was over the moon when they drafted him and I still think he has the potential that had him ranked to be a top pick.
I dont care how you're supposed to say it, he's always going to be Buzz Killington to me.

Hope he continues playing the way he has. It is still a small sample set, but I’m so happy to see him get the opportunity and make the most of it.

I think 6 years at $3.5 million makes more sense.

I was really impressed on one sequence where he held the zone two attempts in a row and then when it finally got out he stickhandled the Philly player and passed it back to maintain possession.
His confidence is building.
I can’t wait til they give him legit PP time.

Wouldn’t he want to sign shorter term? And bet on himself.

Maybe, but he's had so many short-term contracts. If I were him, I'd want some security.

But he'll be singing this contract at or near the end of the year. If he keeps playing like this then he'll get security for life in a long or short term contract. And betting on yourself starts to look more appetizing.

Kylington should benefit playing with Tanev, just like Phaneuf did playing with Roman Hamrlik.

I think OK and Tanev are a great complementary pairing.

This season he just looks like he belongs in the line-up full-time and is finally using his full toolkit.
But I think he needs a longer stick or something, seems to fan on one-timers more than normal.

Hamrlik made Dion look so good he got a big fat contract he could never live up to! I hope Hammer got a percentage ... Phaneuf was never the player Hamrlik made him out to be.

Frankly he is a much better player than he was 2 years ago. He played a decent amount of NHL games in a protected pairing as he adjusted to the game.
If he has hard feelings about being developed properly, and blossoming into the player he is now, I would have issues of my own.
