I’ve always found “anti-biotic free” to be hilarious when it’s mentioned in the same breath as ethically raised.
“Yeah we just let our turkeys get sick and die instead of helping them”
It’s illegal in Canada to pump antibiotics into animals, feed lot or ethical farm. Or A&W. it’s not something anyone does.

There's a guy in Rockyford, AB who sells turkeys, I think $3.75/lb. Brings them to Calgary too.
hikschicks@gmail.com. I think he's on FB too, but I don't have FB. Really good birds - I've been getting chickens fro him for years now
Might be too late for this Thanksgiving if you want him to bring it to town, but he's quite accommodating

I like turkey, but my parents have preferred prime rib roasts for every holiday meal over turkey so we've been doing that forever now. I get turkey at friends' holiday get togethers. Not going to complain about prime rib though!

Wrong
The best thing you can do is having someone else buy a fresh turkey and brine it for 28-48 hours, then show up at their place and eat it.

But then you miss out on leftovers, and midnight turkey snack.

Thanks for the input all. Got a fresh turkey over at Co-op - will be brining it, spatchcocking it and smoking it.
Anyone got any gravy, potatoes, and/or stuffing homeruns?
(Basically Im supposed to do ThanksGiving for the fam this year and trying to knock it out of the park).
Thanks all

I often like making turkey bone soup. It is one of my go to after Thanksgiving and in all honesty, if someone makes it during Thanksgiving, it feels great to wash it down with a light soup and it helps speed up a food coma.
It is basically turkey bones/misc meat with onions, parsley flakes and leftover gravy.
I think it's fantastic with turkey meat sandwiches.
I like making baked yam with butter, marshmallows and little bit of cinnamon. Boil the yams first before slicing and arrange it like scalloped potatoes before baking. The end result is almost like a candied yam.

Roasted brussels sprouts. Bit of oil, salt and pepper. Add bacon if you are ambitious and like delicious food.

We're doing air-fried brussel sprouts this year. Once they're starting to blacken a bit (5-7 minutes) I toss them with bacon and Reggiano and let them go for another minute. Sweet Jesus they're good.

You know why people go on about the joys of putting bacon, cheese, lime, etc on Brussels sprouts? Because Brussels sprouts are ####ing disgusting, so they need to be slathered in stuff that actually tastes good in order to be edible.

Brussel sprouts have to be cooked at a super high temperature. They can be crunchy and delicious, but often are skunky and terrible when improperly prepared.

What type of pepper? I like using pepper flakes (ie: the type you shake onto pizza).
