I don't really get putting Tanev and Zadorov together. Seems like they'd be better split up

If it works out it could be a good shutdown pairing and open up offensive opportunities for the other two “younger pairings.”

Tanev is underrated for his breakout passes so I don’t think the pairing will lack mobility per se.

I just hope Valimaki and Kylington are both in the top 6.

I'm in the minority. I really enjoy the pre-season games. No pressure, a chance to see players I don't get to see during the year for all teams. Really don't mind it at all.

EDIT: Although, pursuant to the CBA, I don't think Kylington can play tonight because he played the last three pre-season games, no? So I presume that the Kylington - Gudbranson pairing isn't playing tonight?
I don't think Kylington played the last game.. That was the one that nobody saw that Valimaki was in on..

I guess Gudbranson's hand is fine?

Hopefully Coleman and Pitlick aren't injured to start.
Yep
Yep
Lewis
Yep
Maybe

I would say that if you had Coleman playing and Pitlick playing it pushes Ritchie down to the 13th forward and Duehr gets sent down.

This overall looks very close to the opening night roster minus flipping around the top 2 lines and a couple D spots. I still think they run with 8 D unless they send Stone down to keep Duehr up.

Does Duehr require waivers?

I don't know. Backlund seems to find ways to generate offense no matter where he is playing in the lineup. He also has a knack for making his linemates better and much more effective. I suspect he will continue to get his looks despite a high number of defensive zone starts that he gets every year.

As much as it is good having strength through the line up, Sutter said that they may have made the playoffs if he went to that line earlier on and having a consistently producing top line is such a key. Mangiapane-Monahan-Coleman has potential as a line too, lots of goal scoring, 2 excellent two-way wingers and a great garbageman.
We already know that top line is great

But Mangiapane - Monahan - Coleman has me VERY intrigued.

Loads of potential there. Speedy on the wings, responsible and has finish.

I don't see Backlund-Dube-Ritchie generating much. Backlund not the issue there.

Now as someone else pointed out, I guess Ritchie just a placeholder. Replacing him with Pitlick is a major improvement and makes me feel alot better about that line. Now he just needs to get himself available to play.

Keith believes in the healing power of red light. I hope the Flames make sure he's nice and healthy after tonight's game.

Agree wholeheartedly. To me the depth is far better when you use Lindholm at Center and with the addition of Coleman it looks really good.

He's played in the last three games.

24 Minutes in the 4-3 Shootout loss to Seattle on the 29th.
19 minutes in the 4-1 win against the Canucks on the 1st.
And no TOI stats but he had an assist in the 4-1 win vs Seattle on the 2nd.

So would be likely that him and Gudbranson as the extra pair today.

Frankenberry seems to be developing into a decent hockey player, which is annoying.
