Shots fired in Carolina!

I do like a little bit of vengeance.

Awesome.

If the Habs match they'll be $8 million over the cap with a 22 man roster.

NHL GMs are by far the most petty.

I love it! I wish there were more offer sheets league wide. The chaos would be awesome. And that’s just the right amount to make MTL pause.

I don’t see him as a $6M player yet. I believe the new CBA would require a QO of $7.32M(120%) next season, which is a lot of dough, and probably why he signed it.

And this is why offer sheets are used sparingly.

I dont know if its 'petty' per se.

Carolina has a little Cap room and even if Montreal does match, the Canes will have lobbed a grenade into the Habs' Front office.

I love everything about this. The pettiness in itself is great, but the $20 signing bonus on top is just ... *chef's kiss*

The $20 signing bonus....okay, that indicates pettiness.

The hilarity of the situation aside, that is a pretty goddamn terrible contract.

Kotkaniemi had 5 goals and 20 points last year. He's not even close to being a 6 million dollar player and has a long ways to go to get there too.

And? What does that accomplish, exactly?

The NHL culture with respect to offersheets and revenge is just ridiculous.

I get that he was a high draft pick but hasn’t really progressed since his rookie year. A first and a third… Seems pretty OK for the Habs, doesn’t it? Is it that awful for them?
