Default WJC 2022 pre-tournament day 1! 5 games, 2 on TSN

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

5 games today, so everybody is playing. There might be games tomorrow also but I haven’t seen a schedule to confirm or deny that.

All times local

Finland vs USA at noon
Slovakia vs Germany at 2pm
Russia vs Canada at 5pm
Czechia vs Switzerland at 5pm
Austria vs Sweden at 8pm

Should be some good matchups today as everyone gets ready for the ones that count on Dec 26th.

Personally, I’m hoping for a big USA loss as always, with Coronato looking good. Hoping Bedard can snag a top 6 wing spot for Canada but don’t trust the coach (David Cameron, bleh) to do anything that smart.

The Fin/Usa and Rus/Can games are on TSN5 but the three other games don’t seem to be on tv.

It’s usually two games per team but they canceled one of everyone’s games. There might even be games tomorrow but they haven’t been announced yet.

Lineup looks good. Just need to swap Bourgault and Bedard

In the spirit of today's WJC preview, I did a little writeup on why it's not really a big deal that the Flames only have one prospect at this year's tournament — they have many World Junior-calibre guys who aren't going for a variety of reasons.

Any idea where Coronato will be playing in the US lineup?

Top 6 most likely i'd imagine?

I'd be surprised if Coronato isn't on the first line.

Most interested in seeing Bourgault, Guenther, Power, and Guhle.

That was a bogus major penalty on Finland. Berard tried to bail out of receiving the hit and put his leg in a bad position.

It will take a minor miracle to get through the Tourney without some major setbacks. Fingers crossed though.

Savage likely getting a suspension for that shoulder to the head of Kemell.
