Fifteen years? I think we are already approaching the point of aesthetic goofiness for the Rogers Toilet Bowl.

As said earlier, the outside is not as important as the interior.
It needs
-good traffic flow
-Plenty of concession area
-double the washrooms you think it needs
-great viewing from all seat levels
-and cattle prods in the seats if people lean forward

Pretty vanilla, but I’m not worried. My main concerns are:

1. How well does it function. Choke points, washrooms, amenities, etc.
2. How well does it integrate and enhance the surrounding area. I’d even be happy with a building that was barely noticeable due to street-facing restaurants, retail, etc. That’s where Edmonton really screwed up - the building is cold and negatively impacts the streetscape.

It is hard to tell from that rendering, but I like the way it is going. What seems like innovative and bold today, often looks like a turkey tomorrow.

It looks like there is the potential here they will construct something that will stand the test of time.

Ultimately, we haven’t seen what is important yet - the interior and the potential to enhance the experience of the users inside.

Please put a Smoking Section somewhere... So we can avoid the ####ing people hackin darts in the bathrooms. Been a issue ever since they closed the smoking area, I don't give two ####s if it cost you a extra $$$ Flames.

I like how they did the exterior of Little Caesars Arena, where they used a mix of materials and styles to make it look like a bunch of smaller buildings in a cluster rather than one large monolith.

In my mind the only thing that matters is if the additional cost to attend an event will be outweighed by a better experience. Really hard to do and probably won't be done.

No such buildings have smoking sections that I know of. And of course you don’t care if it costs them extra money.

Hard to say from that rendering but it looks like it interacts decently, so far.

Also agree with entering at grade would be nice as it would decrease the mass but I think flooding concerns in that area would make them think twice about that.
that's true; the hope is that you have sufficient pumps to deal with it....that said you can't plan for unprecedented events either....

its a question of risk.

I believe that CMLC was pulled off the team to try to do as little as possible, but that's just my opinion. I think CMLC has done a great job on most of the recent public realm projects, so it was disappointing to see them cut out

We'll have to wait and see what ends up being built...just crossing my fingers that they do a good job of it.

Vegas, Arizona 100% have smoking sections, By sections I mean a designated smoking area. Not in the building...

Yeah, it's been really bad since they changed the rules. I know they don't want to allow exit/re-entry, but there's no reason they couldn't put in a couple of outdoor areas that can only be accessed from inside the building, so they wouldn't need extra ticket checkers or security.

This is what I really want also. Good call back to the history of the franchise in the city, as well as the Stampede in general.

Be nice to maintain western names for the Calgary Flames venues.

This pales in comparison to the aesthetics of the new library and it lacks the character of the Saddledome.

What an incredibly underwhelming concept for what's supposed to be one of the most important landmark buildings in this city...

It looks like the primary painting scheme inside is going to be beige.

Our current library looks much better, and almost 1000 less seats?

Off topic, but I really REALLY hate this building. I live near by and can't believe how big of a fail this has turned out to be.
