I posted this as a gear grinder a few days ago. There needs to be more than just text message as an option for MFA. My daughter couldn't deposit her paycheques the past two summers until she was finished her job and at home (no cell service where she was).

There are other options, and they're all better. Google "sim jacking" if you want to know more about why SMS isn't suitable. TOTP (the 6-digit number that changes every 30 seconds or so) is just as simple to implement and much more secure.

I really wish everyone went with an authenticator solution as well.
There were 3 sites that I couldn't use on Monday due to being tied to SMS verification with no backup.
