Can’t deny that Bennett has taken his fresh start paired with a true long look at a top 6 role and absolutely crushed it.

I have no doubt Bennett would be this teams 2nd line center if Sutter got here sooner.

Odds are prob not. He would pull up the derp and be in the press box with Valimaki.

He would be a handy type of player to pick up at the deadline for a second and some random prospect for sure. Kudos to Florida for making the move I guess and then locking him up.

I just don't get why Sutter was needed. Gulutzan, Peters, and Ward should have at least tried it.
Gulutzan should have tried Gaudreau - Bennett - Ferland after Monahan's 2018 injury
Peters should have tried Neal - Bennett - Czarnik
Peters should have tried Lucic - Bennett - Czarnik
Peters should have tried Tkachuk - Bennett - Mangiapane
Ward should have tried Dube - Bennett - Mangiapane
Ward should have tried Gaudreau - Bennett - (anybody) after Monahan's 2021 injury
It should never have been up to Sutter.

Funny bump, I was just thinking last night how well Bennett would've fit into this current team and the style we're playing. Not that we didn't see it last year when he started to turn it around under Sutter.

Ahhh Benny and the jets. He looks great out there and on my fantasy team. We use hits, pims, and he’s just a stat stuffer. I wonder if they get playoff benny? Maybe they go deep. They look real good when Alex, I pay for speeding tickets that reflect my wage, Barkov is back and healthy.
I agree with Granteed EV, it shouldn’t have taken sutter. We were a rebuilding squad. However, I have made my comments about benny known and have been hurt by the move but I have moved on. I wish that tough and talented sob success. Not at our expense. Imagine that final?

Disgruntled player and an upcoming expansion draft. It made sense, as much as I hated it.

It did, but it is tough not to think about what would have been possible if Treliving hadn't tried to be too clever with his coach hires.

I was wondering why this hasn't been bumped in a while. 6 points in last 15 games.
Is he getting off the trade high and coming back down to earth?

Well, that plus zero points this month (3 games). And one goal in the previous 3 (and no assists). This thread only gets bumped when he scores a goal.

You just had to jinx it!
He seems to be still getting chances. I think the Panthers team as a whole has been regressing to the norm recently. They are still a great team and a contender, but every team goes through stretches like this. Can't be balls to the walls for all 82 games.
Sam is a good player but not a line driver. As the team goes, so does he.

His shooting percentage and on ice shooting percentage are moving back to his career average to start the season.
That was certainly expected.
His points / 60 in Calgary was roughly 1.5 ... last year in Florida 4.9, this year 1.32.
I just hope we don't see a gaggle of told you so's ... it was cringeworthy when he was filling the net, and it would be cringeworthy the other way now.
Let it play out.

Sam Bennett is a streaky, unreliable player. Who'da thunk it.

I liked Sam Bennett so no I told you so's from me but was annoying when this thread was bumped after every point he got early on.

Yeah. Why not? If a second assist was getting this thread bumped I think 6 points in 15 games is worthy of some discussion.

If you actually look at the points he's getting many are only occurring because he has chemistry with Huberdeau. Bennett didn't suddenly develop some intensely high hockey IQ.
The flack the Flames are getting for stifling his development is way overblown. Bennett is just not that smart of a hockey player. I see him getting 45-65 points, with much of that coming from playing with Huberdeau. On most teams he's a 30-45 point mid-six player, if given full top 6 minutes and PP time. That's not all that great, and Bennett's main contributions will continue to be his physical play.

I think his point is you're doing the exact same thing.
