Default Final Space

Any Final Space fans here (S1 + S2 on Netflix in Canada)?

I thought the main characters voice and dumb jokes would bug me, but no - hooked. The show grows quite well in Season 1.

If you're into Star Trek and looking for a show, give this one a shot. Think Upper Decks but .. better in my view.

I found the emotional stakes were quite surprising in Season 1 given the comedic perception of the show I had.

Anyway, S3 trailer just dropped, linked below, in spoilers given many here may of not watched S1-S2. Can't wait to watch S3. Such an easy, attention grabbing binge of a show.

Season 1 Trailer - I suggest you don't watch the trailer, gives too much away. Also, jokes aren't as funny in context and don't represent the show well in my view.
Spoiler!

Season 3 trailer

Spoiler!

Season 1 would compete with Rick and Morty as potentially the best cartoon of all time.

Season 2 changed styles, pacing, writing, etc. and was alright.

I think I watched Season 1 in a single sitting.

Absolutely fantastic show. As is evidenced by the fact that when the Pandemic is over and people can actually come to my office I have a Mooncake here.

I watched the first few minutes, thought it was complete trash. Kept going and was completely hooked.

S2 took a hit for sure but still alright- I agree.

The creator did an Reddit AMA where he said he was forced influenced by the studio and implied he regrets some of the choices that were made.

So I have hope!

Well season one we got to do whatever we wanted. And it was great.

Season two we got slammed with notes from every branch of the network and most were on point that improved it. Some I felt like I had to comprised on because there was no give.

TBS has American Dad which is stand alone and they wanted more stand alone at the time. We tried to balance that and keep the serialized nature. The back half of season 2 is way more serialized.

Thankfully I think because of the streamer HBO Max and how well it's doing on Adult Swim I think we'll be able to pump a lot more serialized into each episode if a season 3 happens. I want the cold opens to kind of go back to season 1 style. -Olan

Haven’t seen season 2 yet. I don’t know what was wrong with me when I watched episode 1 but I wasn’t feeling it. Glad I pushed through cause it’s great!!

I am a Wizard.

In reality I didnt do anything special at all, there were never any delivery issues other than cost but I mitigated that by buying 2.

Final Space is something my daughter and I somehow fell into watching together so she has her own Mooncake at University. She gave him a little mask and uses him to hold her headphones.

Her text message ringtone on my phone is 'Chookity!'

Why studio execs constantly feel the need to mess with perfection I have no idea.

This show you made is great, popular and exciting! Though if I learned anything when I got my mba, it's that your creativity is free. To free. Unbounded, even. I'm here to change that, and ruin all the things.

I loved season 1, just struck a perfect tone with some humour that then got quite serious and dark.

Season 2 just felt off, that trailer for 3 looks like it may be returning to that good form from season 1 so I am hopeful.

One of those shows that was way better than I could have possibly anticipated.

This show surprised me. Treat it like Bojack Horsemen, get through the first few episodes and it finds its purpose and gets much much better.

This scene is 'peak' final space to me - this is what solidified my loyalty to this show:

Spoiler!

If you have never seen the show, don't watch the link. Obviously without the context of the show this scene doesn't carry the same emotional weight and it just spoils key plot lines .

Honorable mention/runner up:

Spoiler!

I also loved season 1, but couldn't get more than a couple of episodes into season 2.

Anyone watching S3 ahead of us plebs who need to wait for Netflix to get it to watch it in Canada? Any non-spoiler thoughts (i.e. is it good or bad)?

S3 reviews show the season is starting better than S2, which is a good sign for "The Gary" and his crew.
