This internet death hoax stuff needs to stop. Second time in a year or so that there has been a death hoax on a celebrity and they really die within hours.
Its unsettling.

One of my favorites. His improvs were legendary. It is amazing how depression can even get the best of us that have lived seemingly remarkable lives and lifestyles most can't even imagine.
Very sad.

His emotional well being had to have been pretty much hell for him to comitt suicide. It makes me really sad when I hear of deaths resulting from battles with depression. At least he isn't hurting anymore
I found his personality and style of comedy pretty grating, but he definitely had his great moments over the years. Sad to see him go.
Yeah, over the years I found him to be the same. At the same time though, and I think you and I are in the same age range, he defined childrens entertainment for many of us. Hook, Aladdin and Mrs. Doubtfire, still love all of those.
He was brilliant when he wanted to be, and when he got the right role. His personality was a over the top, one of those comedians who thought they always had to be on, it was the quiet moments where he really shined.
Depression is a hell of a thing, especially deciding to end it all in your early 60s. He was clearly battling something awful and will be missed.

Damn. He was very open about his depression in many interviews. Apparently his dad was a massive a-hole, and severely abused him. Having lost someone in a very similar way, this really hits home. He is one of the comedy greats.
I always thought he was extremely funny, but Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting are, by far, my two favorite performances of his. CNN headline says "Comedic actor Robin Williams....." , that irks me.

It seems that all great comedians are born out of sadness of some sort. It's just so terrible that comedy and depression seem to be different sides of the same coin. I had so much respect for Robin Williams just as a human being. Between his infectious personality and his contributions to Live Aid, he just tried so hard to make everyone else happy whatever way he could.
The role that probably fits him best is Patch Adams. I doubt he was even acting in that role. A very sad man who finds his way through comedy, and in turn finds a way to help others with it.
RIP Mr. Robin Williams. You will be sorely missed.
