Anyone that's interested in podcasting, how the medium is exploding and how the person is the brand needs to read/listen about Call Her Daddy, it's rise, the breakup of Sofia and Alex, and the complete and utter shirtshow that the mid contract renegotiation/walkout on Barstool was.
It's a train wreck and fascinating. Even if you have no interest in Call Her Daddy (which I don't really) you still need to read up about it.

Synodus Horrenda is a good time podcast that about death. Deaths that led to social change, unsolved deaths, etc. I enjoy it. “Stories from history and art that explore how death influences society and culture”.
Finally got around to listening to this one. Thanks for the recommendation! The host is great and the stories are really interesting.
Rick Rubin’s love of music led him to help popularize hip-hop, rejuvenate artists’ careers, and leave his mark on literally thousands of popular songs. But there was a point in his youth where Rick put music aside and focused on something else: Comedy. Rick talks with Marc about being a self-described hardcore comedy nerd and how that informs his process with the artists he produces. They also talk about Johnny Cash, Rick’s love of pro wrestling, and his interviews with Paul on “McCartney 3, 2, 1.”
Very interesting to hear how Rick challenges artists to create their best work. He is all about "energy" and not music engineering.
Billy Boyd and Dom Monaghan have insane chemistry on their weekly podcast, The Friendship Onion.
I'd say it's about 10% LOTR content, and 90% them just being awesome British dudes. Can't say I've ever laughed out loud listening to a podcast until these guys came along.

These are the types of podcasts I love. Sure, it's great to learn something but mostly I listen to them alone in my work vehicle so I just like hearing people have an interesting conversation, especially if they're funny. It makes the day go faster.
My newest favourite is The Sloppy Boys. They are comedians who were part of the Birthday Boys sketch comedy group who started a party band and then this podcast where they discuss cocktails. There's also a lot of silly bull#### talk and one of them will do a song parody each week.
I used to really enjoy Revisionist History, but this season is worse than last season. I thought last season was pretty mediocre, but three episodes on the Little Mermaid was brutal.

Yeah, the first two seasons of Revisionist History were great but I think I'm done with it.

I didn't even realise a new season was out.

Some great stories so far, from the death of Elvis, to the anti-gay campaign if Anita Bryant, the laotryl cancer-cure hoax, and Alex Haley's "Roots."

I binged Nancy Hixt's Crime Beat over the holidays. I know not really a festive thing to do. It's amazing insight into reporting and investigating in our city. Some of it was really tough, especially those involving kids.

Dana Carvey and David Spade have a new podcast called Fly on the Wall. The first episode was Chris Rock for an hour. Good listen. They seem to have a good rhythm with each other.
Connor Ratliff started the Dead Eyes podcast to figure out why Tom Hanks fired him from Band of Brothers for having... dead eyes. He's finally got the man himself on the next episode and it's worth a listen.
Honestly, you should really start from the beginning because Connor is very funny and talented, and he has great guests, like D'arcy Carden.
It's pretty surface level, but the banter is top notch.
I'm on a weird fascination kick of finding comedians that are considered funny, but generally play characters, and are actually hilarious in real life. I haven't laughed as hard as I did at the Will Ferrell episode in a long time.
Conan Obrien
Stephen Colbert
Will Ferrell
Maya Rudolph
Podcast from Austraila, Sports Bizarre. First episode is about Yankees Kekich and Peterson swapping wives. And also about Steinbrenner. Other episodes talk about Tour de France, Olympics. The story about Spain cheating at paralympic basketball is incredible.

Adam Scott and Scott Aukerman just started their new podcast about the music of Bruce Springsteen called "U Springin' Springsteen on my Bean?"
The first episode was their usual brand of music appreciation and goofy comedy. I loved all their previous podcasts (U2, R.E.M., Talking Heads), so I'm really looking forward to this. There were hints that they might do Radiohead or Tom Petty next, so this is a bit of a surprise. Also, Aukerman's Bruce impression is hilarious.
