They have several at the Thorncliff one. On an endcap of the wine aisles at the front of the store, I think the second one over.

Bump.
Finally cracked open the Balvenie Tun 1509 and it is as good as advertised. Simply outstanding.

I have and it’s alright. It’s not amazing, and not terrible. I can’t recall what it is they’ve white-labelled there, but it’s a reputable company I think.

I went through 2 bottles of the 16 year and it is decent. it's got that rich highland Macallan taste to it, no peat or smoke. But if I can be honest, I always felt weird drinking a Costco branded single malt. It was always on the back of my mind, eventhough it is a good and legit scotch so maybe it is better than I can describe.
The Macallan 15 from Costco on the othere hand is delish. Other favorites are Higland Park 18 and GlenDronach 18. And the Glenlivet 12 at $37 is a steal too. Really decent scotch.
Took me a while to appreciate scotch and all it took was a glass of Dalhwinnie 15 followed by Oban 14 and Lagavulin 16. Drinking them neat was the key to really recognize all the flavours.
Most dissappointing bottle? Glenfarclas 21. Candy cane taste is interesting, but it's got no spice and has a very weak finish.

Never let it be said I was unwilling to take one for the team.

I was recently gifted a bottle of Scapa Glansa. Never heard of it before, but quite liked it. Creamy smoothness with a bit of smoke and nice flavours.
I usually like very smokey scotches, but this had just enough smoke for me and more flavours than others I drink. Was almost like a good summer scotch to me.

Hard to believe this thread is almost 10 years old. My longest lasting contribution to CP. That Willow Park Scotch even was ####ing amazeballs though, even 10 years later. Might be the most (semi-composed) drunk I've ever been. I bet I drank a litre of scotch that night.

I went back through the thread and realized I should be more adventurous with my Scotches, I've been drinking more or less the same stuff for 10 years now.
Or rather, you all should be more adventurous with my Scotch selections! Most of my bottles are gifts from clients.

Yeah, I had bad taste in scotch as a 22 year old. Or maybe in hindsight I should be impressed that a 22 year old had any taste in scotch.

My parents were into Scotch which is when I started trying it. My biggest problem was that its one of those scenarios when you're ~20 where you develop Champagne taste on a 'Beer Budget' so its handy to be able to mooch off your parents.

Looks like Game of Thrones is teaming up with some pretty great Scotch whiskey producers for a whiskey collection coming out this fall:
Quote:
The series will feature eight single malts from the Scotch whisky producer’s stable of distilleries and brands, including Lagavulin, Oban, Talisker, Cardhu, Royal Lochnagar, Dalwhinnie, Clynelish and The Singleton.
|
Quote:
It’s anticipated that each bottling in the series will be named after the seven Great Houses of the Seven Kingdoms – Stark, Targaryen, Lannister, Tyrell, Bolton, Baratheon and Martell – as well as the Night’s Watch, an army tasked with defending The Wall against the wildlings who live beyond.

At first I though it was a bit of a gimmick, but those are some of my favourite distilleries, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they produce!

Anyone interested in a bottle of Lagavulin 37? A friend of mine has a bottle for sale. $5000. I might be able to get him to drop his price but you have to promise me a dram.
